livingart
don't want to upset the apple cart but snails can carry parasites
scott16
oh ok so there a no no
ExotherMan
Yea so can humans No seriously there is nothing to worry about, unless you start laminating your bluetongue to ensure ectoparasites never reach it there will always be a small chance. The chances of a gastropod passing it on to your vertebrate pet is highly unlikely whether endo or ectoparasitic, and besides could easily be treated. Blueys love snails and slugs, dont go depriving them of that
ExotherMan
Just keep you bluey warm, and encourage it to drink. As long as he is eating, hasnt injested a foreign body and hasnt been on a course of antibiotics, there shouldnt be a problem. How old is it btw? scott16
um im not sure how old but snookie will know it used to be snookies i gave snails last night cause i saw them outside after making sure neighbors were ok after last night i dont know it he ate them or the escaped lol  he likes to hide alot but he seems ok
repto
agree with exotherm? on this, snails are like lollies are for kids to a bluetongue.Leave the shells on too they might eat some free natural calcium. My boxies can`t get enough snails either, not pretty to watch but I am sure they are enjoying themselves? Varanophile
get an outdoor cage, they love the sun. No need to keep them indoors. Will even handle winter no heat.
scott16
im in town so i dont really want to put it outside
livingart
you could put him in a rabbit hutch while your at home just for a few hours on a regular basis
Varanophile
im in town so i dont really want to put it outside maybe get a cheap hutch so that you can supervise it, even 30mins a week will do wonders, nothing like natural sun. ExotherMan
I totally agree, you'd be surprised what a little sun can do! 1hour a week will do far more than any uvb bulb can provide, and no matter what lizard you have they will get much more enjoyment basking and be more animated than just being under a terrarium lamp. All my reptiles get natural sun and by the end of christmas i will have everything housed outdoors in a new purpose built enclosure.
