  3. I'm pretty sure its a woman who supplies the dragons to that shop, and if shes on the forum i suggest she goes down there and sorts it out. its disgusting. And i don't think the SPCA have the power or would even want to stop people keeping lizards at all. They are all for the humane and correct keeping of animals , not saying what should or should not be kept . Unfortunately in the 'RETAIL' pet trade in NZ , you pay peanuts and you don't even get trained monkeys. There seems to be a few knowledgeable people in some shops , but alot of them seem to move on to other things.
  4. *species not pests when in SECURE CONTAINMENT . Does that mean a containment facility ? , or securely contained in your home?, or securely contained in your 5 acre bush block ? , protected from intruders by a moat full of crocs , and trained attack WILD (thats wild as in friggen angry that their brothers & sisters got slaughtered) IGUANAS , with a few 'ohh there so cute and so furry' wild cats thrown in just to keep any NATIVE threats under control , all surrounded by a perimiter fence of goarse. 8)
  5. Quote "Going to sleep is very very quick and very painfree I think id rather die in my sleep then have someone cut my head off" 15 minutes ,as you say in your first post, is not very ,very quick at all , and you say that it wasnt even dead at that point. Off with his head , a cup of tea , and knit a sweater in the same amount of time 8)
  6. Sorry to hear about your loss. But thats unfortunatly what you get with $20 sh*t heaters. Buy a JAGER heater , they are more expensive than the cheap china ones , but pay for themselves cause they wont crap out in any great hurry, so you wont have fish losses. And they heat larger volumes of water, and you can re-calabrate them. This will no doubt annoy some of you 'hard core' hobbyists who insist on doing everything on the super cheap and who never seem to support the LFS , and will be the first to b*tch and moan when more close down due to ever increasing overheads , and lack of customers supporting them. Happy Fishing all. 8)
  7. Comment edited out by Mod Billaney. No need for that !
  8. give them back to the pet shop . Im sure they wont turn down free frogs
  9. How so?. Thats like saying tadpoles are ok , but if they turn into frogs , then look out!! , there now unwanted organisms. If you morph an axo , its still the same animal!!!!. And what if they morph naturally ? , ohh look cool , hes morphed , now where did i put my salamander slicer & dicer.
  10. Yeah , the weta rocks. Im so jealous.
  11. HaHa , Typical answer from a jansens worker , Dumbass , oops , dont really want to put you all in the same box , but you all seem to talk boring sh*t. I also clean glass boxs that fish live in.

    Pond Liner?

Get proper pond liner . Stone and water world , Marua rd , Ellerslie , would be your best option.
  13. Your LFS will sell feeding blocks , that you put in the tank and the fish can nibble at them , and most have a pocket of food in the centre aswell. Or a better option would be to buy an automatic feeder. The best in my experience would be an EHEIM AUTOFEEDER . these were on special at Hollywood Fish Farm ,Mt Roskill last time i was there.
  14. Thats how chameleons move , jerking forwards and backwa rds movements.
  15. Exactly. If you believe that you have an impactation issue/death from sand , you will more than likely be in the guiness book of nz records as the only person stupid enough to actually believe that sand was or is the reason for the death. I personally use east coast river sand . I find this to be a nice light colour , and very fine , so even if they do eat some , which my dragons tend to do probably every 2nd or 3rd feed , it just passes straight through them. RE live food - bio supplies, local pet store(most expensive), knoxberryfarm.freeservers.com , trade me , or you could even do the.......long pause........ 'old school' catch your own . Please no-one start the 'you shouldnt feed wild caught insects to your dragon' blah blah blah debate. From my experience like most pets/animals , Dragons are pretty straight forward , and the more you stress and fuss over every little thing , the more the chance you will probably end up doing more harm than good. Just follow the basics and you will be fine. (and dont believe everything you read!!!) .remember the story of how man actually landed on the moon . 8)
  16. What would you pay for a Tarantula ?
  17. NO not that small. Frogs do like to have room to move/jump . do you keep your fish in a bowl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  18. Whiskers Singles , KITTEN , has extra calcium added. And yeah snails are fine. smaller ones have softer shells. I miss my blueys
  19. Yeah they are really big and fat there. Also banded tunnel webs there too. and Skinks. Just watch out for varanophile in the bushes!
