fievels007
Set up the fish tank and despite several water changes the water still looks murky. The water/filter had been in there for two-three weeks before, do ya all think that it will be safe to put fish in? I don't have a water testing kit. Have never had one and hope to never need one. Has anyone ever had fish negatively affected by fertiliser?

rollergirl
Is it under the normal gravel or just on its own?
morfin
We had a huge issue JBL fertiliser balls that were under the substrate. Came home and the entire tank was dark brown from where they had leached into the water. but even though it looked like something from a horror movie the fish were all just fine. paekakboyz
getting a tester kit would probably be useful - kind of takes the guess work out of checking your water conditions! Has there been anything (dust, dirt etc) settling on top of the substrate at all?
fievels007
The fertiliser substrate is under the gravel. There is also a new log in the tank which could be leaching brown into the tank. The first fish to go in it will be my classroom goldfish over Christmas anyway, so they should be hardy enough to cope with anything!
