OscarBoy
Males start to get bristles at 4cm I think? and thats how you tell if its male or female because I think females get small 1s when there older. Don't count on that being right but it is something like that
Guest
are you sure it's 4cm? Cause that means that I got all females
OscarBoy
Maybe 5cm but there quite small when they get them. Because when i brought babies from animates they were about 5cm when the got them.
Guest
I've just had a really close look at the 6-7ch ones and they have three little wiskers either side of their head which are about 2mm long does this mean they are female still. peanuts
By that stage of growth - if they where males you should see some sort of "bristles" so sounds like you have all females. but that is good get a male or two and he will keep them happy. Guest
so even if they had tiny bristles all around their lip does it still mean they're females?
Caryl
Many females have short stumpy bristles around the mouth but only males have the long curly ones marching up the middle of their head
danilada
I have a male BN and my dad has a male (we think) they are around the same size, but mine has huge bristles were his BN has smaller ones, is it common for the bristle size to vary? The bristles can vary in size based upon a number of things, but the usual one is whether or not they are sexually mature and 'on for it'. Dominant males will have large bistles, and lots of them, subordinate and immature males will have shorter, smaller bristles. Females can still have bristles, but they are much finer by comparison to both dominant and subordinate males.
