Tsarmina Posted November 17, 2007 Report Share Posted November 17, 2007 i have a bathtub outside that contains 38 minnows. i had cleaned the tub out, refilled, left for a few days, then put the fish out. this was about a month ago. it is now red. there is nothing in the tub that would leach any red colour. the water is tinged red, the java moss looks like the plant from war of the worlds, and everything is coated in what looks to be a red algae. i expected green, but not red! any ideas on what it could be and how to treat it? thanks Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Tsarmina Posted November 18, 2007 Author Report Share Posted November 18, 2007 well the fish aren't visibly complaining so thats cool. i just found it odd that it was red. i'm used to green :lol: that would explain the front pond too. it is also red, but i thought it was just from the new red bricks leaching colour. gizmo72 Posted January 11, 2008 Report Share Posted January 11, 2008 It can cause colic in horses but not in sheep or cattle and I guess not in fish lol. We use salty hot water to clean the baths with for the horses but only kills it for a wee while as it is usually in the water as well.
