spangela
Hey, i bought 20 odd second hand sponge filters (the big ones that sit in the middle of the tank) many moons back, i threw out the crusty old sponges and kept the good sponges, that only had a few weeks use. Whats the best way to sterilize them to kill any bugs in them??
tHEcONCH
I'd boil them.

Adrienne
I always put mine in janola/bleach for a few hours and then rinse well and leave in the sun to dry. Do it with everything I use on regular basis with absolutely no problems at all.
spangela
ok cool thanks, i may do all of the above to make sure! How much bleach or janola would you use in a 20L bucket?
Ira
I used bleach on some sponges once and it ate them. I don't know what the sponges were made from, but it turned them from nice, fairly stiff sponges into all floppy and saggy.
