paul_r
I do not have anything to put them in....yet I did read somewhere that some people just use an icecream container, would that be sufficent?
Barrie
Wok uses a small poly bin as that keeps them a bit cooler in summer. I thought that was a good idea... plus you need the potting mix Let me know
Wok
Use compost instead of potting Mix. Potting mix tends to have fertiliser in it which is not that good. I can bring some down this saturday if you want. Just let me know. You can get a poly bin from the supermarket (fish department) or Payless plastics. alanmin4304
Everyone has their own preference. I use spent potting mix in the belief that a relatively inert media will get them up to feed on what you give them rather than the media itself, and that any fertilizr would be used up. Works for me. Grindals I am using straight peat and that is working.
paul_r
i have a few poly boxes lying round in the garage so no worries there. I will go visit the garden centre and see if i can get a small portion of potting mix
alanmin4304
Get the expired stuff that is left over when they repot the plants.
new2discus
just a pedantic note, that 'expired' potting mix may very well have a build up of nitrates/phosphates (cant quite remember which at the moment, mornings!) in as its been sitting around for quite a while, where as 'used' potting mix should have not build up as the plant will have taken up all the nutrients from fertilizers. Hope that makes sense!
