Aquis 2200

I have an Aquis 2200 its supposed to do 2200lph but I really doubt it does that, The tank is 450l and there seems to be little water movement in the tank. As I said I think 2200lph is an over statment.

Should I do something, or what?

Step one: Use more accurate measurement than "It doesn't seem to move much."

2200 will usually be quoted at no head height with no media..

You can easily measure what it is actually doing but timing how long it takes to fill a bucket and working out how many litres it would pump in an hour, either way I would expect that filter to be more than sufficient for your tank.

They definalty slow down abit with media

Most likely actual water turnover of about 1400-1500 lph

Easily big enough for your tank unless your heavily over stocked

Make sure its clean inside as they slow down alot when dirty

I know, this is the first external I have ever had and its not nearly as great as i had hoped, If you mess up the bottom when its dirty the rubbish sits suspended for ages, it just doesnt seem to do much.

The benefit to an external cannister is more about having extra room for bacteria to grow, rather than actually removing debris from the water. While the current might not be huge, what does go in to the filter gets processed a lot better.

I'd do the bucket test, see how long it takes to fill a 10L bucket, then post the result

I only have one cannister at the moment, Jebo 819, rated at 1200/hr on a 200L tank, and it has been doing a fantastic job of keeping it clean. If you want extra current you might want to get a cheap internal. On the old 650L tank, I had 1200/hr cannister, and 2 x 1200l/hr internals. The cannister did all the filtration work, but the internals helped keep things mixed up and generate flow.

I've got a jebo 819 as well on a 360L and the water is clear as and there is a decent current running.

How have you got the outlet from the cannister set up? are you using a spraybar?

Also they're rated probably without all the attached plumbing, spray bars for instance are pretty restrictive, they'll cut your flow back a lot. But you'll get higher speed spray.
