Caryl
They can certainly have swim bladder trouble but I would not say it was 'broken'. Fancy goldfish are particularly prone to swim bladder problems which means the fish has trouble swimming upright, or straight. It is often worse after feeding and can be helped by only feeding fine flake or live foods rather than dried pellets which swell up inside the fish. If the fish appears otherwise healthy and is able to feed I would not worry about it. Not sure if you can 'fix' it though, depending on why it has a problem with the swim bladder in the first place. Matthew
There is a medication for the treatment of swim bladder disease, but it is not overly effective. Sorry can't remember the name but if you need it I can look it up. As it is, swim bladder disease is very infrequently seen but the fish does present with an inability to maintain it's appropriate level in the water column

Alan
Who? Me? Never !! But I may have been joking tho. Was going to write back and suggest peas, but as Caryl already has, I wont suggest peas, that are cooked, squeezed out of their shell, and half squashed, and given the ailing animal. I just wont mention peas. Alan
Caryl
Peas is a serious answer by the way
robert
If you can get to the problem as soon as it happens you can try putting the fish in a tank with just enough water to cover the top and bottom fins, no more, over the next 8 days put appox 20mm of water in each day,if you get to the problem soon enough this does work.Feed very small amounts of food and heater at normal temp.
