I've never tried them at winter type low temperatures but I wouldn't expect them to do well. It just doesn't get that cold in their native habitat (I've only been there in early summer but apparently even the winters are relatively warm). Andrew. High 30s and low 40s C (over 100F) at times. I was mostly looking at plants but did get to go fishing at an airforce base not far from Tampa (and I can be seen in a certain issue of TFH if you know where to look). We caught a bunch of interesting fish and saw alligators and various other scary critters while poking about in swamps looking for killies and other fish. The advantage of being on an airforce bombing range (with permits etc) was that no one else is allowed there so it's reasonably pristine habitat.
