fishandchips
There has been heaps of discussion on the subject of true SAE's. Here is a good thread: http://www.fnzas.org.nz/fishroom/siamese-algae-eater-vt135.html And another http://www.fnzas.org.nz/fishroom/black-beard-algae-vt5912.html

alanmin4304
SAE is Siamese algae eaters---more eficient at eating algae when small and the black line goes all the way through the tail and no gold stripe above the black.

Zev
Looking good! It's quite interesting that quite a few people start a planted tank and put Val in it, then after a while they take it out because it grows rampantly and blocks the light - been there, done that! firespook
a question for you nemines (or anyone else actually) - when you took out the val how did you replant the tank? do you just stick your hand in with the fish? or do you need to take them out?? sorry i've only just today got myself a tank and now have to fill it and still have lots of questions!! Caryl
Stick your hand in with the fish, they will be most interested in what you are up to

anthony law
what did you do with the vals.can you still get them. ps realy nice set up you got there.
HummingBird
Just make sure you don't have any bubbles trapped in the hairs on your arm - with little fish, their nibbling on them can be cute, but with larger ones it can be painful. nemines
i put some of the val in my duboisi tank (it's gone now) the rest i chucked in my worm farm (it's gone now too!). you wouldn't have wanted it, it was beginning to be covered with beard algae. i was able to bleach my anubias -they're tough- but val would have just melted. thanks for all your comments!
