ikan
hi I am planning to buy a Aqua One CF500 Canister Filter or Aqua One CF1200 Canister Filter what price do I expect to pay for a new one or second hand? are second filters worth considering? Caryl
Nothing wrong with second hand, depending on how old they are, how long they have been sitting unused, and how long they were used for. I would not pay more than half retail price for second hand (depending on the above).
SpidersWeb
Hey Ikan, You can get the AquaOne CF1200 for $138 + $5 postage (cheapest at the moment petplanet.co.nz) or Jebo 819 (same spec) for $180ish at hutt pets. I would recommend getting them new since they're cheap. With anything, half retail is the most you should pay for a used item. I'd pay $~50 for a 2nd hand cannister up to 1200L/hr. Some may pay more for special Fluval or Eheim versions, but $150ish for a brand new 1200Lhr filter that works fine and parts are easy to get............ you get where I'm going with that haha Have fun, Jono
Afrikan
We have bought most of our external filters new, however, we bought a second hand Fluval and it works like a dream still.. I wouldn't look past second hand if it has been running smoothly beforehand. However, then it comes down to sellers word  At least with brand new will get a "fix or replacement" option within a time frame... Aqua One stockists were running a special on their filters, so might pay to get one.. as some stores have the special price running.. Wok
Most of my HOB filters have been 2nd hand and they work a treat. Then again I only buy Clearview HOB filters. Canister Filters I tend to stick with Fluvals as they have worked well for me.
shiuh
will AquaOne CF1200 or Jebo 819 be sufficient to cope with a 3 foot tank around 100L? at 1200L/hr i guess so huh? i want i want!
alanmin4304
With 1200l/h on a 100 litre tank it might be cheaper to buy a second hand washing machine.
