PENEJANE
Well I pickup the keys today to our new house and in the very near future I am building a pond. It won't be as fantastic as Caryls but I am hoping to do a japanese garden effect with rock work and simple plants. I was wondering what forms of goldfish can I have in an outdoor pond. Cheers. :bounce:

Caryl
In Invercargill I wuold stick to comets and maybe fantails. Fancy goldfish can go outside in summer temps.

fishboi
Friend of mine has an outdoor pond and has veiltail goldfish on his with no probs. Cheers for the info though. veiltail = fantails just longer fins. they do great in cold water as they tend to be lazy and sit at the bottom of the pond and get fin rot. with cold water they're less likely to get it. reason proper fancy goldfish don't do well in cold water as they're internal organs are so deformed and distorted from selective breeding to get to this "egg shape". Fishman
Some Shubunkins have patterns/colours like Koi. I have a few in my pond and they look like Koi although smaller
