Oscar
This is a broad question-I have a Geophagus Brasiliensis that is being picked on too much bt tank mates would he be ok with some 1/2 grown Electric Yellows,Blues etc? MRSkz
I don't know about that cichlid but what I'd do was move him and watch. If he bullies his new tank mates then move him back. Hope that helps
Oscar
Thanks-not worried about him bullying more worried about them bullying him.
MRSkz
I would be very supprized if the E. Yellows bullied him. Let us know how you get on though.
Oscar
Maybe I should have just asked if Americans are ok with Malawis?
sharn
generally no- mainly because of the water param difference but africans show aggression a bit differently to americans and it seems they are generally a bit meaner than your average american (unless your talking jags, devils etc) but i havent kept yellows or zebras so im not sure what they would be like. what size tank is the geo in, what is the decor like and what fish are picking on him? Oscar
Hes in a 140 ltr tank and only his mate is picking on him, other types are fine.Lots hiding holes but his mate finds him.At the moment the picked on fish is floating in a plastic culinder to give him some rest and the bully can't see him but keeps hanging by the culinder.Mean bugger. sharn
are they both boys? im not up on geos but maybe thats why hes doing it?
Oscar
I think they are both female,if it carries on I may have to take it back to fish shop,my other geos S are both girls but the weaker one handles being harassed and not to the same scale. It seems Geos of the same sex don't get on. herefishiefishie
If the water in both the tanks are the same then try it with the yellows & see what happens. It is already getting harrased in one tank, may as well give it a try. Frenchy
Oscar
Water is ph8 in other tank so too high the bullied fish escaped his safe haven and his mate is now leaving him alone-must have missed him and decided hes ok.
ccl
Yellows are sweet with just about anything. I have a few community fish with my Africans and most are fine. The yellow suckers with horizontal black stripes (I should know their name - they're fairly common) are the most agressive I've had, killed many a fish in my tank. However now there's only one male left, and he's not so active.
