evil_elmo
here is something i came up with to try and hide my metal stand, you can find the build of my arowana tank here http://www.fnzas.org.nz/fishroom/settin ... 16015.html here is what i started with, a metal stand i measured my stand and went down to a hardware shop and got them to cut up some 9mm MDF for me i sanded the board so its smooth and i then painted it with a white undercoat the colour i choose was "mouse ear" by taubmans which i got in satin enamel for hard wearing first coat i painted it with two coats to attach to my metal frame i got some cardboard door catchs i screwed down one part to the metal frame and the other part onto the MDF final product everything went well and i can just pull of the covers and click them back on, so i'm happy with my DIY project

evil_elmo
what a neat idea!! i might try that too! how thick is your mdf board? where did you get them cut for you and where did you buy the clips from? MDF is 9mm, i got cut from smiths city it was $15 a sheet, i needed 2 sheets and cutting was $3, so $33 for the MDF and i also got some off cuts too as for the clips the cheapest place was also smith city for $1.25each, other places like place maker and bunning was about $1.50each

bOi
That looks awesome!! Great jod DIY-ing will you be making a matching lid/top for it?
evil_elmo
thanks for the kind words guys nope i wont be making a lid for it, i find it annoying to feed if i have a hood over the tank since i feed about 4 times a day
Jo1
A hood would really finish it off nicely. You could have the top of it opening with hinges to allow for feeding and maintenance.
shiuh
IMO not necessary....i think a MH suspension on the top and grow some plants would be the bomb!
