  1. HI, I have a neon blue dwarf gourami. I bought him from Jensens about a month ago. He was swimming around fine. Then i put a bigger gourami in and it started scaring off the little one. The little gourami stayed in a corner and wasn't moving around as much. i got rid of the other gourami a while ago, but the little gourami still not moving around. I have a fighter in with it so it might be that too. I then put the gourami in a really little tank today to see if it was eating, i gave it blood worms and flafes but it only had a tiny nibble at the flake and that was it. It's had major dis-colouration in it's fins and doesn't eat or come out of hiding. It's been like that for a while. I am really worried so if anyone could help me in figuring out what to do that would be awesome. thanx, morgie
  2. soo sory, Sounds like the poor little guy had a painfull death. Just something you gotta look out for. Treat it as quick as possible. Maybe some more fish may brighten the moment. morgie
  3. WOAH!! Nice fish Jason!! Just wish i had something like that to show off. Looks like a cross between your albino birchir and your angelicus synodontis catfish. Thanx for sharing
  4. probably corydoras. They shouldn't be too much hastle as they only skim the top for food and don't dig in as much as loaches would. a Plecostomus might do the trick but im not too shaw on if they are good on a sandy bottom, but they don't dig in. I would deffinately stay away from the loaches though Hoped that helped
  5. hey, Suphew was just trying to help you Findingnemo. If the discus were kept in a tank that size, which you posted, it may have led to deadly consequences. You did correct the tank size so problim solved but remember that this site is for helping people and not for criticism. Hope that helps with the misunderstanding Morgie
  6. thanks for the info. i was reading on that website that some one would be ripping you off if they gave one to you for $50 and said that $20 was a reasonable price. They must be in a country where you could find one on the sidewalk, so to speak. $400 sounds pretty hefty but all we need is a male and female so if anyone on the site has any of these we should make an arrangement to breed them because i know people would be interested in getting one. Alot of money in that too. should make quite a few fry  cheers
  7. LOOK http://www.aquahobby.com/gallery/e_zebra.php the coolest looking pleco i'll ever see.
  8. .......... {mouth drops to the floor].... {picks it back up again} Wow thats a cool tank if ever i've seen one. And i agree on that courier reply.
  9. Hi, I'm not sure about the filter question but i have dwarf gouramis too and they seem pretty hardy because i clean my filter with tap water and usually do 50% water changes and it doesn't stress them at all. I also have a fighter in with them and it does chase them around a bit but it shouldn't be that bad. My gouramis are bigger than it and every time it gets near the fighters tail the fighter zooms off then comes back and chases the gourami. I've had know problem at all with these except that one of them doesn't like the flakes so i feed them blood worms and they can't get enough of it because it is gone in a matter of seconds. i think that the best fish for keeping in gourami tanks are corydoras, loaches or plecos because they clean the tank very well. this should stop the build up of algae and anysort of bacteria in the tank giving them a good enviroment. Holp that helps
  10. Hey, Just wondering how everybody does there water changes because i just got a new tank and i vacuum out the water but the hard part is putting it in. i use a 1l jug and try to warm water to the same temp as the tank. just wondering how i should change my water and a quick method of changing it. Also i wanted to know if i need to heat up the water before i put it in the tank to stop fish stressing or dying. thanx , morgie
  11. Hi everyone, I'm new to this hobbie but i am a big fan of fresh water tropicals . I have a siamese fighting fish, a neon dwarf gourami, a yoyo loach, an albino corydora and a pepper corydora. My favourite fish is the siamese fighter. i think he is a veil tail or a crow tail. not sure. I love the different variaties of personalities fish have. I used to think they just swam around but know i realise it's much more than that. I am keen to collect more fish and different variaties. Thanx, Morgie
  12. sorry aqua. You said something about '' Just because bettas are kept in small tanks doesnt mean they should be ". I didnt mean as small as what some stores keep them in {e.g cup size containers}. I meant something around 20l for a Betta minimum  . i meant to say that to not to keep them in a huge tank because they dont move around like say... tetras, loaches and other active fish do. thanx Morgie
  13. Thanx for the help Ira. there is just one more thing i need to know. I have...[list=]1BETTA 1neon dwarf gourami 2corydoras and a yoyo loach in the tank i wont to put him in . I heard that the brazilian puffer is a peaceful puffer so i am wondering if it would be ok with these fish aswell as not nipping my bettas tail. cheers.
  14. Thanx for the help I was also wanting a brazillian puffer or something small and less aggresive. I don't know the price range for these but i heard they're expensive. If anyone could give me an idea of the price and how hard they are to get into an LFS that would be cool. thanx again, morgie
  15. I am interested to know where everybody gets their puffer fish from because i cant find them and really interested in getting one. If anybody is interested in selling me one that is in the auckland region it would be appreciated. i am after any sort, hopefully small. cheers

    My New Fishie

awesome looking fish you got there. morgie P.S i am very jelous
  19. Hey Blitz! If you are wanting to keep that many fish i would not suggest having a fighter. The Angelfish have a tendency to nip at his tails and causes an unhappy life 4 the betta. Also guppies will get tormented by the fighter if they have fancy tails because the fighter finds them to be a threat. Also it is a way to larger tank for the fighter, it doesn't need much room. Hope that helped morgie
  20. I have a clown tail siamese fighting fish{ the ones where the tail starts to split when they mature} and i keep him in about a 20l tank. Personally i wouldn't recommend a huge tank for this fish as they can breath directly from the air and they dont move around all that much. If you notice they are usually kept in tiny tanks. All fighters are different to me and have different sorts of personalities, but mine deffinately hates to be kept with alot of top feeders because of fin nipping. the only other top feeder i keep with it is a neon dwarf goarami.
