    Cory's hiding

Caryl, just a couple of artificial plants and cave type things. Firefish, no I've had them for quite awhile. I just haven't decided which tank to put them in although I'll probably put them in with the barbs and red eye tetras. Curviceps, that's what I'll probably do get 3 more. Thanks all Caper
  8. Thanks So I do the cleaning once a month (except for the usual water changes & vacuum) could I or should I ever go longer than that??? Caper
  9. The bio filter only gets rinsed in bucket of tank water. The mechanical filters have carbon in them so they get changed every second week. But I mean the actual filter "container", the intake tube, etc. should they be cleaned monthly or only when water flow is restricted. Example, when I cleaned the intake tube of one of my filters that last time is had quite a bit of scum (for lack of a better word  ) which I thought if left was unhealthy for the fish???? Caper
  10. Thanks for the help They are now changed. I transferred everything except the gravel. I did put the gravel in buckets and gave a cleaning with running water. The only thing I forgot to do was to wipe out the tanks   Anyway, goldies & ottos are fine. I did loose one tiger barb but have no idea if the move had anything to do with it. Caper

    Cory's hiding

I only have the 3 cory's in the 10 gallon, eventually they'll be put in another tank. Anyway, the minute I go near the tank they take off and hide. Are all cory's this way, or could it be because there are only 3 of them? Caper
  12. Congrats on your multiple birth Caper
  13. Sooooooooo then wilson, that means YOU know how to work them????   Caper
  14. Caryl: Is that for all types of filters including hang on the back types? I was wondering because I usually clean my filter once a month. Yet, I have seen and been told here that you don't need to clean them that often basically for the same reason you said. But I thought that was only if you had a canister filter? Caper
  15. Thanks, I like it now but hated it when I was growing up! Yes, Caryl, all except Cody; it would have been great if they had gotten home for Christmas. It was fun, kids are just at the age when they know enough about Santa and presents    Caper
  16. -microwave oven -Marine Aqua Vac -automatic fish feeder -digital photo frame (which I will eventually figure out how to use   ) -Chicken Soup for the Soul book for Grandmothers -fridge magnet with "I love Grandma" 2007 with a pic of Cody (can also be hung on Christmas tree) -clothes -ornament -chocolates -money
  17. 4 in with my tiger barbs. I have been watching them and lately it seems the red eyes aren't coming up for the food like they used to do. It's almost as if they zoom up once in awhile as in a "sneak" attack :-? I'm wondering if it is because they are out numbered by the barbs? I did purchase 3 more yesterday but they are in the 10 gallon tank for now. Are they any other fish I can put in with the barbs and red eyes? Caper
  18. My son bought me a new Marina Aqua Vac for Christmas. Was able to buy an adaptor to fit my tap...WOW it was so easy, I love it! Once I figured out how to use it :-? it was amazing how fast it worked. I was like a kid, at Christmas  , after I did the water change I just stood there looking at the tank thinking wow this was so easy   Now just have to be able to get it to work upstairs, bought new taps so hopefully it will work! Pretty soon it will be good bye to all those water jugs, will just keep 1 for each tank for top ups. Caper
  19. Sorry to hear about your Mom, how is she doing? Caper
  20. Really nice stand Ian But how would you perform maintenance on the lower tank especially after you add another tank to the top???? I've often wondered how people do water changes, etc. when the stand is 2 tier. Caper
