  1. Yep...still lots to read & learn on here No...my tanks are never off for that long...so I'm ok then. As I've said, longest off...when giving monthly cleaning! Thanks Bill!
  2. mustcooktea, question, of course.... Do you use frozen peas or canned peas? I guess it sounds like a silly question but I was thinking that the canned ones maybe too salty  Today, (still Sunday here) I'm doing the one day fast for both my tanks and tomorrow my Sam & Puff are getting peas for supper! Plus I am not going to feed them in morning either, I think pea day will be a "one" feeding day as well, sound reasonable? Can you leave them whole, assuming I don't squish them trying to get them out of shell
  3. I've started putting a pinch under water...but find it difficult to see if everybody is getting some the tetras just "swarm" together   Tried it in with goldfish too, but think I need to put a little less. Anyway, it seems the concensus is that feeding from top is okay so I will do that with the occasional pinch under water. THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP
  4. Please correct me if I'm wrong folks: dwarf cichlids: Kribs Keyholes I've been told (here) that keyholes can go into a community tank and I think kribs too. Cockatoo Rams Not sure of other ones...yet
  5. Hi folks! Sorry I'm new to this hobbie so not much help...but just wanted to say hi & welcome to your wife on her new hobbie...look forward to getting her input. But one thing I have learned...fish will eat pretty much any time you feed them. I feed my guys twice a day. I've cut down on how much & now I'm going to start the one day of fasting...starting today...(which is still Sunday here). Monday is the day I usually do my water change. I used to do every second week so if for some reason I can't get the weekly done I don't panic. Once a month, I take everything (excluding fish & some water  ) and give tank a really good cleaning. Wise move...get wife addicted too
  6. Not that I ever plan on breeding any of my fish ...shutter at the thought... Caryl, does that mean he can or cannot breed them then?
  7. One of my original black neon tetras is the same way. He hasn't grown much at all compared to the other 2 I bought at the same time. Plus he's the one that also swims a tad different than the others. With all that said, otherwise, he seems to be just fine.
  8. I'll be waiting for the pics...I always love to see people's....ah...um...hmm...aquariums Welcome Wizard...great site here...as you already know people are wonderful and helpful! So, debs01 got you & reid hooked...on fishies that is! Take care!

  10. reid...is slave sleeping out under the front step tonight
  11. What is considered "any length of time" Bill? Everything gets turned off when I do a cleaning or a water change. The longest things are off is when I do the cleaning.
  12. deb01...do you think there's something Jude isn't telling us

  14. I wasn't sure whether to post this here or in the disease section? I bought 2 mollies (1 black, 1 white)Friday. Everything seemed to be fine. When I came home tonight, I was watching the fish and noticed the white one swimming...ah...differently? From what I've seen so far, he swims up and down at the end of the tank alot. Occasionally venturing around a bit. But tonight he's going up & down then...sometimes he is almost veritical (mouth up) for a few seconds then back to swimming. Does this mean he's sick? I'm looking on the net to see what I can see about this behaviour but haven't come across anything as yet. Thanks, Dolorosa I found another post titled "sick mollie" should I have posted this under that topic? Even though it's a different "thing" going on with mine?
  15. What are the big white things with the brown/beige on top? I'm assuming since this is a reef tank (have I got that right?) that is a real clam...OH MY it is huge!

    Another Newbie

Hi Gretal! Welcome to this site...I bought my first tank in March. The folks here are just wonderful! I have a 10 gallon with 1 calico fantail (Puff) and 1 comet I think (looking at net that's what is is) & his name is Sam. I also have a 29 gallon with tropicals. Well it seems you already have MTS and as far as your partner goes...well, you'll have to check with the more experienced folks here...I don't know if it is contagious
  18. What kind of fish attacked the veiltail scoobyjene? How are you haven't seen you here in awhile?

    Starting all over

Hi kbird! Great site here...the people never cease to amaze me with their knowledge and kindness. Take care, Dolorosa
  20. OH MY...what am I going to do vapo...I can't lift the tank...thanks for making me laugh...I needed that   Yes jude...I have noticed them on the top of the 29 gallon tank but not on the 10 gallon...but then I have an air pump going in that tank as well which is probably why I haven't noticed it. There not as noticable today...thanks all for setting me straight :-? :-? Gee...I wasn't this nervous when I had babies!
  21. I need a vacation No these are "floating" maybe I just didn't notice them before. Can you tell, I don't have much of a life
  22. Thanks...I don't remember the exact wording but it had something to do with the fish getting air when they were eating the food on top! So...no worries then?
  23. I just went to check my fishie. The 29 gallon tank seems to have a lot of tiny bubbles; I dont' remember seeing it like this before. Any ideas what could be going on...or am I just loosing my mind altogether :-?
  24.  I say about my brain: needs a computer chip or its like a computer but needs to be rebooted or its fried! So, what makes this tank so expensive a combination of everything?
