yeah, 83 is the width of both my tank yeah, thats true in a sense, likelihood it will reach that size is remote in a tank, pond maybe.

i find even the largest eheims, turn over isnt tha tmuch. bio filtration is good and all but you have to make sure the water gets clear quickly after feeding and disturbing substrate. i think fx5 is better at that. also, there is a formula for bio filtration you either have massive turnover or high surface area with less turnover..... there is a point where the lines will meet and become the same.

eheim is better because it has massive buckets on bio filtration and focuses on that. some eheims dont even have mechanical filtration only bio. fluval is both. i recommend fluval anyday for value for money. why? because its half price, but does the job the same i reckon. and keeps your watervery clear, the turnover is huge! eheim is nice - very well constructed and of course the best of the best.... but at a price. and the difference is not twice you are better off buying 2 fx5 instead of 1 eheim. no one can argue with that! you end up spending the same or just a tiny bit more. to get an eheim to filter the same as 1 fx5, you would need to spend 800 dollars or so. thtas 2 fx5s right there at the right sale price!! 2 fx5 will filter a 3000 litre tank thats medium to medium/heavy stocking.

cks are big fish. when they rach 40 to 50 cm, their growth slows dramatically similar to aros. when fed right that is with good water. large tank, fraser is right on dimensions. a tiny bit smaller will suffice but his dimensions are good. tank mates, bichirs, arowanas, flagtail, fast moving fish, they are not aggressive to other fish unless cornered... but even then not too agro. but, anything small and lets off that "prey" signal will be destroyed. dont put tank mates, your tank is too small. upgradef irst

SEACHEM PRIME the best and msot costeffective way of treating aquarium water 1 capful will treat 200L!! huge! i doubt you will have more than 200L of water in a bucket, thats a huge amount of water but none the less, a small bottle can treat a couple of thousands of litres.

ok. my water change system allows me to feed and feed with minimal work! but one problem, i have a slight black beard infestation! thats not the problem, problem is that only in one tank,RTG tank , black beard spots grow on the front of the glass. it so hard to remove with my magnetic scrubber, i have go use filterwool and get my arm in the tank and rub it off. any ideas how to remotely remove these? with out getting wet? haha the clown tank doesnt have that problme on the glass, whcih is weird as the two tanks share the same system.

the end of the day, if you DID do it, who is gonna know. how can they prove it. you could be making false claims by saying your arowana eats mice i suggest dont film it and put it up on you tube. silly though. i dont know why its against the law or what ever.

it will develop. just get it. feed it good food. My one didnt have much colour when i got it. a few months later when settled, it developed, not its bright orange

slow, not too fast, they go through spurts but generally, its not fast growth at all. higher protein foods will boost it i found, but they are predominantly vege eaters. but thats not a bad growth - in saying that, maybe need to chaqnge water more:D

they come in occasionally. hff first call, then wonderworld rotorua. i got mine from rotorua wonderworld. quite agro though

yeah, fastest growth i have ever seen. i find arowanas grow extremely fast to 35cms. Bichirs i find grow fast too. But the ck i didnt expect. love cks though

thats with my recipe of growth fraser. lots o food, lots of water changes approx 120 to 150% weekly:D

i see. is that what grows in the eheim wet dry filters. that filter has no mechanical filtration what so ever. all just bio media. i have no doubt its awesome, but in terms of mechanical filtration... what happens then?

get him onto bigger pellets like c gold hikari, easy cheap and good for growth. tetra he will start to ignore soon, too small. but yes,l awesome fish! iw ant a ck comm tank one day:D

awesome! what size tank is he in? i love clown knives. trying to get mine huge! but growth tapers from 40 cms ish. but they get awesomely thick!! make sure you get it onto pellets easier thatway, not picky, just needs tob e trained. before you know it, you have a monster on your hands

its when you have a amonia/nitrite spike, you use it it hink. i dont think its needed, a good well cycled filter system will never spike in amonia. overfiltration is good filtratin:D

ihave been bitten by my rtg before, and it does break the skin,not to the piont of bleeding muchthough. its uncomfortable but not as bad, more psychological. they swallow whole, they dont really chew or rip meat off your hand. when aro hunt live food,they tend to be mroe vigirous.

i am bad with sizes - i always either under or over estimate. i dont know how ,long the black aro is... i so think its only 30 cms! anyways, fishie, 1300 would be ideal mixing aros, is a risk, even in a large group, losses must be anticipated, but acn be avoided by line of sigh breaks. remember, to have line of sigh breaks, you gotta have a massive tank!! aros get huge! i would not recommend it seeing that this is your first aro and questions you are asking is somewhat newbie questions. I am not dissing dont get me wrong. but when you put multiple large fish in a tank, you are starting to delve into dynamice of behaviour, more filtration, etc. its like engineering - when you build things biggest, stronger faster, it involves different rules when doing so. In a tank with 2 black aros, you should have a 1500L minimum! and 2 is a bad number, you should just ghet 5 minimum maybe 8. MFK has plenty of info on it. i suggest master keeping one aro, good tank, filters and size. then see about an ARO COMM later when you are more versed with their behaviour, feeding, care. questions. what filtration do you have? decided on tank size?

500 litres will be fine as grow out. may last for 12 months. but i suggest upgrade asap. they are shy to start with, then they become more hungry and active as they get bigger.

i would say with good feeding, water - it will reach a minimum 20 inches in 2 years. my black arowana, i have 0one also - is not 12 inches or slightly more, its not one year old yet. i forget, how old is my black aro david? when did we get them?

i dont care so mch bout drop eye, silvers are notirous for it, in fact almost certain. its the size of tank, im surprised it doesnt have spine curve

you will need a large tank. ........ seriously. any arowana requires a tank thats big. but a south american arowana, black or silver grow very long, very fast and will require a wide tank so they can turn. asian aros, are not as long, more thick and fat..... you can get away with a 6foot by 2 foot by 2 foot with a asian/jardinii arowana. but silver, black. I reckon 80 to 90 cms is better in width. anyway, research prior to buying. arowana is a large fish
