Hi phill collis here..the discus will only breed when good and ready..i have imported 180 near adult and only 3 pairs have actually got to do something.. i use fine river sand and under gravel filters with nylon wool to stop sand getting through. if you have lots of tanks you cannot keep clear bottoms clean..babies will not be lost in sand..i net rubbish from bottom and nature looks after the rest.. the only way to get results from discus is to have plenty... see my profile..cheers phill
