If you undo the two bolts that hold the strut to the hub carrier make sure you get it wheel aligned, easily get 5-10 mm toe change from them which will screw your tyres in no time.

I agree with the tonic salt but at a small dose, id do 20% water changes daily for a week, what size tank are they in? If they are in your 350ltr maybe 50ltrs a day.

Its eating blood worms mainly, the brown ghost i got from you was struggling for food in the 7' tank in the house so moved it to the big tank in the shed to feed it up but it will only eat blood worms where as the banded knife is keen on prawns. The fire eels race the brown ghost for the blood worms, once its getting nice and fat im planning on starving them to change them over to prawns etc, my black ghost inside loves dry food but the others just ignore it. If your keen on the eel you can have it for $40, i paid $70-$75 from hff approx 9 mths ago.

Sorry to hear the sad news Henward, i have a small fire eel here (20-25cm) looking for a large tank as a new home. It's in with another fire eel and the banded knife and brown ghost knife i got off you. Let me know if your keen.

If you need a filter i have a JBL crystal profi 500 sitting here, i think it has foam and i can probably find inlets and outlets etc, maybe some hose you can have if you like.....

See if Partmaster has it or can get it, if they can i can get a very good discount from their Manukau branch.

My money would be on the hoses, you shouldnt have trouble with an eheim for years. Only trouble ive had with them is that you cant lever out the impellor with the ceramic shaft :oops:

Id say the 2 x 2217 eheims, i use 2 on my 800ltr with 2 sunsun magnetic powerheads for extra flow, ive got a 2260 to put in but will continue with at least 1 x 2217, the 2217 is a great simple reliable filter.

Im keen on hearing dimensions as well, i have a 800ltr loach tank with clowns, striata, queen, golden zebra, angelicious, and tiger botias but would love something like 12,000 ltrs.

I agree with the buy one or two theory, buying media to go inside that brewing barrel would cost a fortune. I would suggest 2 x Eheim 2217 but the aqua ones are a lot cheaper.

The filter i have going should be ready to pick up tommorrow along with your GBA, i work until midday but anytime after that or most of the day Sunday will be fine. Ill PM you my cell number.

Have you started with the basics? increasing your water changes to see if that makes a difference... increase oxygenation/surface movement, anything new to the tank fish, ornaments etc? The water changes and extra oxy may not cure them but it may help them survive longer until you sort out the cause.
