  1. Cheers! Dosage is one drop per 100 litres daily, although fairly slack and probably only dosing once every two days on average.First sign it's working is to check your tank after lights out and within a week coral polyp extension is dramatically increased, even on those that previously didn't respond. After two weeks daytime extension follows(about 5% of corals seem unaffacted).Thought is that it is absorbed directly by the thin mucus layer on all hard corals and it is a non nitrate producing food source, bonus.I have noticed if i go mad with the stuff i'll get a powdery looking algae on top of the streams and front glass.Dose after lights out and keep in the fridge.Brendan has prices and supplies, very cost effective as my bottle will last at least a year on 350-400 litres, supposed to work on non zeo tanks also, magic stuff!
  2. Have been using Coral Vitaliser,a Zeovit supplement for nearly 2 months now. This supp noticably increases growth rate and polyp extension for acros, really noticable in millepora, normally slow growing,is on steroids with this stuff.Growth rate has been rapid in all acro corals, so much, that with limited room i've had to spread the corals out months earlier than before. There is no weakened or thinned out branches, just unreal growth/ polyp extension. 20/10/05-26/01/06
  3. Thanks Paul,Yes, there is black eggcrate sitting on grey pvc feet under that rock, cut at the front to shape.Spraybar at the lower back blows H20 forward underneath.Sand covers front only making it a bit easier to maintain.
  4. Great setup, the light up the wall must look excellent at night!superb

    Photos Please!

Spot the difference? The first photo taken on the 20/9/05,the other 6/10/05 so a little over two weeks.Subtle but definate colour change and a little growth on the tips. Putting this down to new 14k blv halides and probably the new zeo coral vitiliser, corals are enjoying both.
  6. That coral sits on a ledge so picked the wholething out and guided him out with a fork, that photo(8.30pm) was taken just after, hence the pissed off expression!! That claw of his was quite keen to have a go!If he was six foot high,we would be the ones in tanks! ps.As a whole i think the smaller porcelain crabs are good to have and seem to have a symbiotic kind of relationship with our corals, happy to keep them.
  7. Maybe some boffin can id him, note the larger right claw!Admitedly this is the first time i have ever seen destructive behaviour from any crab.Recently picked up about 20 cats eye snails, from maraetai, to act as clean up crew. They have hoovered the tank big time,so not as much algae/detritus! Reef may have something there, not taking the chance though!Nice drawing Brian,
  8. Here's the star.he's a handsome devil and not at all camera shy! . The only problem is i couldn't figure out why two corals were looking feathered and stripped at the tips.It seems this moviestar was dining out at a different restaurant each night.Once he'd had his fill of indonesian acro he'd move on and taste the menu across the road.Hard to see in the photo, but he's caught mid entree, and you may see where he's been, by the whitened and shredded tips. . It's not his last appearance though as he now resides at the sump rock cafe.
  9. Recently noticed that some sps corals sitting lower in the tank were very slowly losing colour on the tips.My 14k bulbs don't seem to have the punch to reach down lower in the tank.Admitedly, been lax monitoring all levels so that may be a factor! The top row is looking ok,but with a limited size tank am forced to spread corals lower, borrowed a 10k bulb from brendan, who reminded me that i should have been using them in the first place  Noticeable difference! Light punches down to the sand, emphasises yellows/purples, washes out blues.Well documented that 10k brings out good colour and growth.A little limited having a pendant fixture as to balancing the yellow cast, running one white/one blue actinic is a good mix when the halides are off.will get a not so blue bulb, probably not 10k,yet!
  10. Great looking pics.I have some large size plastic alligator hoseclamps, you are welcome to a few, will hold the largest eheim and up to 35mm at least.
  11. Looking really good james, the tank is going to love those streams!cool moonlit shots.
  12. Very welcome to see the tank anytime.
  13. Recently picked up a drab looking cultured acro sitting under subdued lighting, didn't think a lot more about it until the next evening when on closer inspection it had a blue tinge to it.Ok,nice, but no big deal.Well after a few days i think i've found my new favourite coral, Lucky dip!!
  14. Gidday Ira,if you are unable to change it as pies suggested,i have some black plastic 38mm alligator hose clips you are welcome to.Found them in a central auckland shop ages ago so bought heaps, they fit easily over the largest(34mm)eheim hose used on 1" pump intake, should fit the 1.25 outlet also.I have the 32mm clips also, so if anyone needs these let me know ,gratis
  15. You got it fay, looked pretty sus going thru customs with water dripping out of my bag
  16. Ta,the camera's a Canon powershot pro, good to see decent digital cameras are getting cheaper by the day! Took a bit of experimenting to get the results but thats half the fun
  17. Got a new toy, so no better excuse than to try out the macro mode on a couple of recent additions that seem to be colouring up quite nicely,no photoshop, eh dogmatix!, well maybe a little focus enhance but the colours are all their own

    Colour change

These very poor shots were taken over one month .This acro sits at the back of the tank and is difficult to get a good focus, but was fully brown changed to a greeny blue then now slowly hazing to purple.
