probably not an ideal way for him to be?If you want a lazy ,little fatty carry on as you are.If i put anything live in there its all on,they seem to enjoy the chase?Let him get a bit hungry and see what happens?
get some smaller egg laying containers(small clear throwaway coffee cups)put them in a cutout hole in the floor or a shallow cardboard carton etc.Change for a new one after you see them used or once a week replace with new ones.Your others will dry out way too fast, especially with a fan.Cover with glapwrap&rubberband and incubate separetly. Also you may be better with a slighty more porous mixture(put a bit a bit of pumice sand or vermiculite in your medium.Branflakes are more natural and palatable for them than layers mash.good luck.
what I was meaning was the price will have no need to come down if un breedable animals are coming onto the market much like water d`s and herman`s tortoises for example.
no it wouldn`t,and due to the lack of males and the ability to feed the `market` with only females or only males a few people with breeding stock can make alot of money in a few years??
Thats the way I interpret it.I know they only have 2 eggs per clutch and the number of clutches must depend on food quality and ammount just like any other reptile.
I believe it was way more than 30?it was a personal ambition to have them wild here and apparently they were already breeding in the wild.Alot of trapping/shooting? went on to eradicate the family groups.Been quite for a while, must have got them all or the challenge of the albany chooks got priority?
i think his problems are /were pschological and you have not given enough time to notice a difference? These things take a while to manifest themselves and often a while to reverse?
better have a look at this http://www.anapsid.org/resources/rxdose.html
ivomec not a good thing to use apparently,I know its a no no for tortoises at least.
you would be right there.Mine have been outside all summer and although still eating they are showing signs of brumating(even though they are now inside)I would split them up now and try again when they come out of brumation.Make sure your food supplies are well sorted before you go there!
to me a black beard in a female would say she is trying to take the appaerence of a male and is not receptive for whatever reason(typical??)He bobs his head to say I know its you?she waves her arm to show shes no threat to him,he has a taste to make sure its not really another male.I would separate them now and let them have a brumation time and then put them together as they awaken.(assuming you are wanting to breed them?)
if its fungal the salt baths should do the trick. What about physical damage from the other turtles(or one of them?)sounds like you are doing everything else right, others may be more helpful?
