  1. I think its in Australia, Reef. Maybe the regulations are not as difficult there Cheers Jude
  2. That's not trouble - that's luck. Lots of people here would love to have their partners hooked as well. And I agree with Alan - get the fishroom into your plans now    Cheers Jude
  3. I don't have a lot of luck with the low growing plants because I don't have strong enough lighting - so the low plants either get tall and lanky trying to reach the light or they die off. You might be better going for plants that like lower lighting - java ferns and anubias are two I can think of but there's plenty of info. on the net. I think the mix of gravel, aquatic mix and sand is likely to get mixed up in the end, especially with vacuuming. Could you pack the bottom with polystyrene sheets? I know people use them in cichlid tanks to protect the bottom in case a rock topples. If the sheets would show, you could make them a bit smaller than the tank and dribble gravel or sand around the edges to hide them. Cheers Jude
  4. There is another medication that can be used. Bilbo mentioned it to me the other day but I can't remember what it was called. I am sure he won't mind you sending a private message to ask. Cheers Judy

    WCMM's

Its the tank on the deck. It only has wcmm's snails and blue/green algae in it + a few plants. The tank has been a bit neglected - I've only fed once a day and I've been keeping the light off to try to reduce the algae. I'm wondering if the dark is why they finally spawned. Cheers Jude

Yes, I know they're easy to breed but up till now mine have shown no interest. I just went to feed them and noticed at least two different batches of fry in there. Yippeeeeeee. Cheers Jude

    Too late: Dead

I'd follow up the large water change by smaller water changes perhaps daily - and cut down drastically on feeding. Don't overdo the water changes though because it might stress the fish. Cheers Jude

    Cat biscuits

I think they are probably the same as your dry cat food - they are usually small, can be different shapes, hard and crunchy. They're probably about the size of our old 1c coin but that won't mean anything to you - or our even older threepenny coin. Thats about the best I can do - they're hard to describe  Cheers Jude

LOL Bruce - I saw that and I answered - I suggested bird food instead Jude
  21. Hi and welcome How many fish did you have in there? It's not a huge tank and it should be started off with just one or two fish until the tank has cycled. After that, the fish should be added slowly. In case you are not familiar with it, cycling describes the process where good bacteria build up in the tank. These bacteria convert the baddies (waste products) into more harmless products. Even after that, small and reasonably frequent water changes are still advisable. As Sharn says, look up cycling in this forum. There is heaps of information on it. Don't give up, we all keep learning in this hobby. Cheers Jude
  22. If you want some indian fern, pm me. I just chucked out a lot of baby plants but I am sure there will be more there soon. Cheers Jude

    Cat biscuits

Just chatting in the forum and I said I thought some people fed cat biscuits to bigger fish but that I wasn't sure. So I am checking. Does anyone do this? Do you grind them up a bit first? What sort of fish would eat them? Cheers Jude
