  1. Ok so I have an exo terra viv for my Golden bell's. I set it up using Hydroton as the base which is being held together to form an island with weed mat, on top of this is a layer of coco coir then Sphagnum on top. My issue is that the substrate is slowly sliding into the water (I want an "L" shaped area of water). My dilemma is that I now need to pull it apart and re do it, I want to have natural looking banks not mini cliffs that would not be produced if I use a rigid product to contain the Hydroton. So my questions are: 1) How do I contain the Hydroton to create my land area. 2)How do I make natural looking banks. I'm slowly making myself nuts by reading and re reading forums for ideas.
  2. WHAT? how did you go about that? I have only seen one this season but couldnt catch it, I'm sure my frogs would appreciate any tips you had to lure them in.
  3. Cant really go wrong with any of the Canon EOS DSLR's- The 60d is a fantastic camera but there are a couple cheaper 600d and 650d come to mind. If you really want to go all out get the 5d mkII but it is likely to break the bank. The Nikon DSLR's are great also, no experience with these so not sure of models sorry. If you can afford to look at getting a better quality lens as its all about the glass. What will you be using it for primarily or what type of photography would you like to get into? Might be able to help you narrow it down...
  4. Caught about twenty of these in my trap today and they were all eaten within a few minutes.
  5. I'd be interested in having a look also.
  6. so no pictures or no Lavender Leopard Geckos?
  7. Neither would mine. That's pretty much it though. :digH: Can I also say: "Fish keeping gets me wet" :sml1: :slfg: :rotf: :sml2: :happy1:
  8. I found some great deals this afternoon from a kiwi company so were sorted well the electronics anyway.
  9. Yes equipment Basically need all electrical and some bowls, just thinking that if I do a large online order I could save a couple of dollars - not that prices here are too bad.
  10. can anyone give me any recommendations to overseas stores that will ship to NZ?
  11. The price difference between the bulbs is not much so 105cm it is. Not sure what the difference will be on my power bill however.
  12. I had heard that Heat rocks etc weren't ideal so will go with ceramic for night. I might even get through the summer as the room does stay warm. As for UV what length tube should I go with? am I better to cover as much of the Viv as I can or as is mentioned on numerous sites and forums just over the basking area? about paint will any water based paint do? I'm trying to find one with the lowest VOC rating I can.. Any experiences with paint?
  13. I'm putting a viv together for a Beardie but need some advice on the electrical components.... Made from ply and is 1200x600x600 Basking light - will 100w be sufficient or do I need 150w? UV - 90cm or 105cm tube? or could I go smaller? Night time heating - I'm thinking of a ceramic heater attached to a thermostat but what are any thoughts on heating rocks, pads or another option? It feels like I've read and re read almost everything I can find and I'm still not sure about the above or maybe i have just confused myself.
  14. Great pics, loving the Beardies. Can't wait to get one. PM me if you know where I can get a nicely colored one.
  15. I had thought that it may of been impaction, no mealworms or stones but did appear to eat his body weight in flys one day. He seems off his food and isnt stalking the flys like he was. Substrate is gravel, weedmat, coco fibre and sphagmum moss in that order. I'm kinda new to this so does that sound ok? I know that frogs need minimal things but I'd like to do it right. He has moved and the lump seems to have gone, I'll Still keep an eye on the little fulla.
  16. Thanks Ira. What did I do wrong? A wart? That's pretty big.
  17. My golden bell Iggy Hop has developed a lump on his side. Any ideas? he/she seems normal but we havent had Iggy for very long so still learning what normal is.
  18. I only found out about these a week ago and I'd love to get one. I have found one for what seems like a reasonable price but it will still break the bank right now. What would you all suggest a good price is? whats the likelihood that more will come available this summer?
