Any tips on telling the difference between males and females?
  9. We have bought them this size before so i would say not but i am no expert
  10. I work on a dairy farm (no hating) and yeah sometimes ya just gotta do it
  11. Don't what to sound heartless or anything here but why even try to save the thing? why not just put it out of its missery? found in a pool without its mum in the middle of winter. not knowing how to feed it or anything. would it not have just been better to put it under your boot and end it quickly? thats just my opinion. just like i don't understand why people try and save half dead mice from their cats. the chances of survival are slim to none so why not just let your cat have its meal.
  12. it is.. but its i saw something today also
  13. "Sore" is "i have a sore hand" You were meaning "Saw" as in "I saw something"
  14. yeah we went to one in north east valley a while back and they were actually a lot more expensive then down here
  15. Even if east road could get me some i'd be paying a freaken fortune for them.. really i'm looking for a mid october purchace of some cichlids. been talking to F15hguy about it.. looking at some brown haps with a couple of male fryier haps and some electric yellows (or maybe something else that would contrast well with the fryier haps colouring)
  16. http://www.cichlid-forum.com/profiles/s ... hp?id=1548 Just wondering if they are in nz.. beautiful fish
  17. Don't know if this would be considered "Rare" or "Unusual" but heres one of my partners prides and joy
  18. Yeah and to waterlog it.. i have no idea what type they are. i shall have to find out though..
  19. how long should i be leaving it in the water and how many times should i change the water? cheers
  20. I guess you really couldn't call it drift wood but i have sound a section of a dead stump i want to use in tank. gonna cut it off this weekend. problem is it's quite a bit larger then my biggest pot so boiling it to make it safe isn't going to be an option. How ever i do work on a dairy farm with 2 massive hot water cylinders at the cow shed. if i were to clean this wood and put in a container with the water from the cylinders (sits around 80 - 90 degrees c) would that be enough to kill bugs? cheers
  21. it has not shown any signs of the orange that they have when they female. but that might explain why it looks so damn fat... but why would it have developed the forehead lump then lost it when the bigger one got his?
  22. did it provide you with a good enough pic to tell weather i was right about sexing them or not?
  23. yeah i totally understand that.. they got some discus atm.. want $180 each for them "on special" what they charge does make postage worth while. just saw your pics of ya new tank.. looks bloody awesome
  24. You getting your stock from trademe?
  25. I'd need some spare rubbish glass to practice on... Not really that easy to find here in southland without paying a good price for it
