well i wouldnt equate all that to lighting. 3 x 400W'ers on 10 hours a day is 360KWhrs per month. At around 17c/KWh that's only about $60 a month. Add to that the other equipment and I'd guestimate about $100 a month to run the tank. Although I'd prefer to look at it like $3 a day What I really need is a controller that logs when the heaters come on to see if they count towards the bill that much! I think the biggest addition to the power bill (which was actually $480 not $450 ) is the wife using the dryer - so maybe i should shoot her

how do you find it having a stream blasting directly at the front of the tank? does it disperse water sideways well enough? also, didnt you buy a new camera? are the before/after shots from the same camera or different?

sounds like cyano. physically remove it. read this http://www.netpets.org/fish/reference/r ... teria.html yes and no. since its reasonably small, if you keep up with regular water changes you should be right. a decent skimmer will make life that much easier between changes by pulling out the crap you add (in the most basic sense) yes, any (half-decent) skimmer will help. pm steve for info on how to mod it to fit a skimmer. as you are mushrooms, leathers, all those types of corals that are both hardy and have lowish light requirements. most soft corals. anything is possible. again, ask steve he's modd'ed them so will show you how. for a small tank like yours a single 150W halide should fit nicely. the typical 150 you can get has a small footprint that might squeeze in nicely. there is heaps to learn but but top marks for giving it a go at your age. good luck, keep reading

option 2!

two options (both require SINGLE return pump) 1. the overflow of the first display tank flows into the top of second display tank then to sump and return back to first. 2. have a gruntier return pump that has Y plumbing to split pipe off to each tank. so long as the sump has enough capacity for both display tanks when the return pump is running and switched off, it'll be fine i would not use 2 return pumps
