  1. Hi, @Herefishiefishie Man, $250 at wholesale! Thats ashame, they're one of my favorite fish. Nice to hear about your Bristle Noses. Anyway, I finaly managed to get some pic's on the internet . http://fff.corydorasworld.com/gallery/CatBrat I put some pictures of my so called 'Feather Fin' up (sorry about the awful pic's, but it is very timid). What do you guys think it is? I thougt it looked a bit like the Syno sp. (5) on Planet Catfish. I also put a question up in the Planet Catfish forum so hopfully they may know a bit on them. Cheers, CatBrat.
  2. Hi, I posted this a couple of days ago, but I guess that everyone was looking at page 2. Can anyone help? For the tank that I am planning (L 240cmxH 60cmxW 75cm) can anyone tell me what the thickness of the glass should be? Also, does anybody have any ideas on how to filter such a tank?, would I be able to make a filter or would I have to buy one? Cheers, CatBrat.
  3. Hi Dark, I have seen them a few times in Auckland. In the pet shops they were around $8 - $15 (can't rember the exact price). They seem to be like neat little cats and I was tempted but just never got around to buying them. I will have to look for them again. Cheers, CatBrat.
  4. Hi everyone, I have been looking at all the really beautiful freshwater Sting Rays on the internet lately. I would love to see these/keep them if they are allowed. My question is can these be imported/kept in New Zealand or are they another one of the prohibited species? Cheers, CatBrat.
  5. Hi Finn, If you don't mind me asking what sort of price is it? Cheers, CatBrat.

  7. Hi, sorry about the mistake before . Thanks Dark. @Chris.L To stop the plywood soaking up the water you coat the inside with apoxy. Here is a site that has the info on them. http://www.cichlid-forum.com/articles/d ... arium2.php Also if you do a google search for 'DIY - plywood/glass tanks you get lots of info. Anyone out there who has made one and could give me some pointers. Cheers, CatBrat.
  8. Hi Rob, That sounds like a great collection . I know what you mean about the patterning of the young feather fins, but they seem a lot more 'squggly' than the patterning of my one. Although it was sold to me as Feather Fin for $38.95. The strange thing is that there was also another tank with fish labled as a feather fin syno's but for $39.95 :-? . These other ones had the normal colour of young feather fins. My one looks more like the pictures of the 'Zebrinus Syno' on Planet Catfish in the Cat-e-log. www.planetcatfish.com. I will try to post a pic soon. Cheers, CatBrat.
  9. Thanks for your replies, @ Pies - The reason that I wanted to build the tank out of plywood and not all glass is the price. One sheet of plywood costs a lot less (around $40, 8'x4') than a sheet of glass ($310 for a 8mm sheet at 8'x2'). And no its not going to be a marine tank , its most likly going to be for a large collection of catfish/plecos . @ Doc Holiday - Is the tank that you are talking about the one which says 'FISH Tank, 91x39x38.' If so I think that the measurement are in 'cm' not 'inches' as the price is only $150, but thanks anyway. Does anyone know a cheep place to get glass from as this is likly to be the most expensive part. Cheers, CatBrat.
  10. Hi everyone, For a while now I have been planing/dreaming about building a large tank (8'x2'x2.5') out of plywood/glass. I was just wondering if anybody out there has ever had any experience with this sort of tank. I have been researching a lot about them, but would really like some help from people that have had first hand experience with them. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, CatBrat.
  11. I also forgot to mention my 27 or so Bristle-nose fry of around 1.5cm Cheers, CatBrat.
  12. Wow! $475 each The anglicus are around $85 up here. @herefishiefishie If you don't mind, how much did you pay for the cuckoos? And how many do you have. Anyway, the next cats on my list are a gold nuggut pleco (L081) or a para pleco (L075),mayby both if I can afford them. Cheers, CatBrat.
  13. Hi everyone, I was just wondering what cafish the people of this site keep. At the moment I keep 10 species. These are, 1x Polka-dot synodontis (synodontis anglicus, 13cm) 1x Feather Fin syno (synodontis eupterus, 14cm) 1x Syno species? (I think it a hybred, Zebrinus Syno?, 6cm) 1x Jaguar Cat (lisomadoras oncinus, 8cm) 4x Glass Cats 2x Port Hoplo Cats (both 15cm) 1x Allagator Twig Cat ( Farlowella henrique) 1x Butterfly pleco (zonancistrus pulcher) 5x Bristle-nosed Pleco 4x Pygme Cory Cheers, CatBrat.
  14. Hi andyman98, I would think that if you were to get fry from your bristle-noses that they would act just like live food and would be eaten very quickly. But I may be wrong as I am no expert on cichlids. It might be a better idea to set the bristle-noses up in their own tank for breeding, if you have the space. Cheers, CatBrat.

    Hi Everyone!

Thanks for all the welcomes guys, At the moment I am breeding Bristle noses (just had my first spawn a couple of weeks ago, about 27 fry), Guppys, Pristella tetras and Red-eyed Tetras. I bred my Pygme Corys awhile ago, but most of my adults have died (I think that they were eaten by my large silver shark)and I haven't had any spawns lately. Thats all I'm trying at the moment. Cheers, CatBrat.
