Hi Warren, Really sorry to hear this and can't even begin to imagine the strain you must have gone through to make such a decision after all that work. Really hope you can find a new owner that will appreciate all your efforts. Regards, Bill (Pegasus)

Hi Goldie, Like to hear more about those guppies.... got any pics My solitary female has no tail colour whatsoever.... boo hoo... Just looking now and she seems to be a little less yellow today, and tending more toward a pale lemon curd colour he he. Still... this guppy thing takes time if you want results, and I suppose I can enhance the colour through some good selective breeding. I suppose yellow guppies are nothing new (out of touch a bit) but rearing your own line of a good strain is always a great pleasure to me. We have a nice strain of Sailfin Mollies that I am hoping to improve the colour of, mainly in the fringing on the top of the fin, as it is a very pale yellow at the moment, but ...mmmm.... red, blue, green, or a decent yellow would be nice he he. Really hard to find a decent fish that hasn't been crossed with something or other these days, or cross/interbred that much that it produces mostly rubbish. The blue tail ones you mention sound choice..... have you any fry with the blue tails, and are they males.... delta... veil.... lyrtail...? What with the Angels, Guppies, Mollies, Platies, Cats, and hopefully Discus... plus all the other fish and stuff I have on my mind with my fishroom and the forums, I'm not too sure which end of the tank I'm swimming in at the moment I'm retired, but this is getting to be almost a full time occupation ..... but isn't it GREAT he he. Happy Days Bill (Pegasus)

Hi Goldie, No.... Not to Brooklands. Out of several hundred fry, this one "buttercup" stood out from the rest, and fortunately my wife missed it, so I am waiting for some results from it. It's only around 25mm at the mo, but is gravid. I intend to clean it out and find a decent male for it..... who knows HE HE. Whisper..... We should be really in the livebearers section. Sorry Interfecus for interupting your welcome thread
-
Sorry Sarco if I mislead you But if you are ever in the market for live foods, that is the place to be Thanks Caryl All these great posts take some keeping up with he he.

Hey there Dianna. It's a real pleasure to see you here and I hope you get to make our forum your second home I'm sure you'll find lots to interest you here, and we are all keen to hear about those fish of yours. Really appreciate you taking the long swim he he. Happy Days, Bill (Pegasus)

Hi Sarco, welcome to the NZ Fishroom. If you are referring to Live Foods, the company is Biosupplies in Auckland, and they are on Eskdale Rd in Birkenhead. Their website is: http://www.ak.planet.gen.nz/~bio/ and the phone number is: 09.4182352 Hope this helps Now you can tell us all about your fish Regards, Bill (Pegasus)

Sounds great Interfecus, you may even consider making a Betta Condo as in the Anabantoid section. I did have a few selective Guppies coming along, among which is a buttercup coloured female, plus I did have some nice males that I hoped to rear on, but my good wife decided to empty my stocks while I was having forty winks. They were sold off, so I'll be keeping tight tabs on the next batch that drops I still have the Buttercup, and hope it produces some decent fry. Regards, Bill (Pegasus)

Hi Pies.... hey... that rhymes A Bulkhead fitting in the general sense is just a threaded piece of pipe Metal/Nylon/Brass, that can be passed though a wall/tank/bucket, and be secured by a locking ring or nut on either or both sides. They also come in what is known as M and F... meaning they can have a thread on the outside (Male .. M... ) and a tread on the inside (Female.. F.. ) To complicate things further, they also come in "Reducing Types" where you might have say 25mm going through your tank wall, and 20mm for the external portion. They also come in "Flange Base" types, where there is a flange on one end that butts up to the inner wall of the tank or whatever, and would then only use one locking ring or nut. You could use an M and F reducing nipple with a locking nut on the inside. This would allow you to drill the correct sized hole, slip the fitting through and secure from either side with the lock nut. You would then fit the correct fittings to the outside to suit your piping. Look at the ball valve unit on your toilet. Imagine the ball valve was not there.... just the threaded part that goes through the cistern.... this would be a type of bulkhead fitting. It's a standard name in the trade (which I am not in) and I can't understand how they don't know what you mean. Regards, Bill (Pegasus)

Try telling this to the Guppies :) Sorry Richard.... I couldn't resist You find a lot of species that will breed at under a year old. Love to hear about the loaches spawning though

Hi Pies, Can't help on the Marine Side, but you asked, Any Hardware shop will sell these. Just go in and ask for "bulkhead Fittings" and they will know what you mean. BTW: Have you entered "Marine Supplies NZ" into your browser.... You could find some answers.

Ditto he he.

Choice looking fish Terry..... now if only you could breed them ...

About time we had a few more Betta lovers... Welcome to the forum Interfecus. Any thoughts on spawning the Bettas ?
-
Good one Terry, hope they settle in OK

Sorry Richard, Should have been a bit more precise..... Old Aquarium Water works best
-
Hi Richard, Can't see it NOT working after two weeks he he. I set up two more containers yesterday, and already they are swarming with mozzies. Did you use old tank water, or straight from the tap ? The water should be greenish by now in this weather. The black dots could be egg baskets and may turn into mozzies. The mozzies swim below the surface at the slightest disturbance, so if you sit quietly you will see them come up for air after about ten seconds. Yes.... You should keep the pails topped up, but don't add more yeast. You will get all sorts of dead insects on the surface..... no probs, and No.... you are doing everything right it seems :)
-
Thanks everyone, and thanks for the link Rob. I'd been there before but somehow lost how to get there..... Getting old. Well, that's my excuse and I'm sticking with it

A member on another forum has just had his Kuhlii (sp) loachs breed. Says the young are about 20mm long, and the eggs were green I see there are three entries in the list of bred species in NZ, but no way to find out who bred them, or how they bred. Anyone got any further info ? Species reported Acanthophthalmus kuhlii - Kuhli loach, (added 27-06-02) Acanthophthalmus pangia - Brown/cinnamon Kuhli loach, (added 27-06-02) Acanthophthalmus shelfordi - Golden eel loach, (added 27-06-02) Do we have to be FNZAS Members to find out the breeders ?
