  1. So can you get those plastic strips from the LFS?
  2. :rotf: I was going to say... two lights... would be way too bright lol Blonde moment!! :rotf:
  3. Nevermind lol I see you are talking about the acrylic.
  4. Get two lights? Or do you mean two pieces of acrylic?
  5. It's an Aqua Zonic Max Bright T8 Double and it's silver, comes in an orange box... was about $99 ... there was one other there and it was $230. My tank is a 60cm/64L. Will try to find it on the HFF website. The guy at the LFS said there were two ways to put the light onto the tank but I could only figure out one way and couldn't fit it on with the plastic strips on the sides. :dunno: Maybe a photo of the tank would help?
  6. I bought a light for my tank recently and I had to remove the rubber/plastic strips that fit onto the sides of my tank to fit the light onto it, so I can't put my glass lid back on. I had a look on the HFF website but can't find these things to fit onto the sides, on there.... can you get them from the LFS's? I have a smaller piece of glass that I can fit on the tank still, but need shorter things to sit the piece of glass on. Or I can get my hubby to get me a 4-5mm piece of clear acrylic cut to size.... Either that or I will have to get a longer piece of acrylic and just sit it on top.... but don't want the kids or cats to knock it off KWIM
  7. Yeah I do have a dark blue background. Previously I had no background on the tank and I noticed it made a big difference.
  8. Yeah what I was going to do was put them in the night before I do my next water change... if it doesn't make any difference I won't do it again. Just wondering why one of my guppies doesn't seem to be as colorful as it was when I got it from the LFS. It's a green one with leopard sort of markings and it seems more yellow than green and has lost some color. Mind you, I have noticed that a lot of my guppies colors seem to change. Like particular areas get darker and then they are lighter again.... All the other fish seem fine. That's why I was thinking spirulina flakes because apparently if you want to enhance color in blue/green fish you need to use green foods. So I wasn't sure that oranges and lemons would help anyway.
  9. So I have been looking up ways to enhance the fishies colors. I plan to get some Spirulina flakes ASAP and they get fruit and veges, tropical flakes, color enhancing flakes, bloodworms and fish dinners. I read online somewhere about putting orange and lemon in the tank.... anyone done this or heard of it? I do large water changes weekly because I guess I tend to overfeed ... never follow the 'what they can eat in 5 minutes' rule. I'm always worried they won't get enough to eat.... I do 80-90% water change weekly sometimes 2x a week... depends on how often I think it needs it.
  10. Yeah I decided to do no breakfast this morning and peas for dinner and she seems a little less fat lol We'll just wait and see how we go..... I was thinking of getting some epsom salts tomorrow and see if that helps....
  11. No photo... only got a cheap camera and I don't have much luck taking photos of the fish esp. the smaller ones!
  12. Maybe a female... I wouldn't know lol Will have to google how to sex tetras lol But honestly, it looks like all the photos I've seen on google images of prolapse in fish. Will let you know how it goes.
  13. Well I mean they're not hanging out by the filter or on the gravel and acting lethargic and they look fine... don't have bleeding gills or anything else and they are swimming around energetically and eating well. I have guppies, tetras, platys, mollies, dwarf gourami and the tiger barbs.
  14. Apparently but the LFS didn't bother to tell me when I asked for two. They seem fine. They dart around all the time and look well and feed well and are behaving normally and haven't been picking on the other fish. I don't have a big tank - it's only 64L.
  15. Yes she is eating and behaving normally. The two are constantly darting around together.
  16. It was a blonde moment. I know that Tiger Barbs are not livebearers.... forgive me for being tired and using the wrong words. Everyone makes mistakes ... no one is perfect! Obviously some people think they are..... Anthony - I can't see anything coming out of it's rectum or anything. It just looks fat/bloated. I've looked at other photos online of female tiger barbs and not seen any as big as mine is. I do have a neon tetra that seems to have a prolapsed rectum though... but getting a photo of it is impossible. My camera is not good enough. I do a 80-90% water change weekly, because I do tend to overfeed... can't help it! and I feed my fish a good variety of food... fruit, veges, flakes, bloodworms, fish dinners. I do have one book I got from my LFS recently called 500 Ways To Be A Better Tropical Fishkeeper. I don't think I haven't done my research. I had previously looked up information on Tiger Barb breeding and did know they are egg layers. I was just tired. I know all my fish by name. I'm forever looking up information on my fish online. And know many of the diseases/illnesses and their signs/symptoms. Maybe one of two that some of the people on here may not have even heard of! Like whirling disease. If you asked my hubby he'd tell you I spend more time looking at and taking care of my fish than I spend time with him, and I'm obsessed with them!
  17. Ok but without the :an!gry emoticons would have been better.
  18. So if it is a female and she doesn't release the eggs, do they get absorbed by her or will she die?
  19. For those that actually want to be helpful instead of being nasty .... so then is the larger one a female and full of eggs, or bloated or something else? I know the photos are not great, but they just move all the time lol
  20. Ok geez sorry! My mistake! :an!gry There's no need to be rude/nasty.

  22. I have two tiger barbs... one is larger than the other. When I brought them home I realized one seemed to have a growth on it's belly. The other one is a lot bigger and seems to have a very big belly... not sure if they are male or female and whether I have a pregnant one..... I have taken photos of them but have been having issues with the camera/computer uploading the photos.
  23. Anyone had a fish with one? It seems I have a neon tetra with a prolapsed rectum. Last night I thought it was just a large poop but it's still there .... it's light pink and doesn't move.
