  1. I agree, Ive had help from one breeder, you know who you are!! and I would be completely stuck without their help! We should be trying to get more people interested in reptiles!
  2. Not too sure what you would be able to send, they eat their shed skin so very rarely even see it.
  3. Yeah if not it would look a lot better as a seller for them to just tell us their method rather than being so mysterious. It just makes it very suspicious. I hope my own comments warn any potential buyers hoping to breed from them. As for probing I wouldnt even consider it and I dont really think its something people would attempt at home? Temp sexing, be the person onto it or not, is still not 100% as they stated, plus they said they had another way. Reptilenutt - Shes great. My biggest of 3, good healthy appetite and very very curious. I have to keep an eye on her during feeding as she constantly climbs up my arms or trys to wander down the table. She has a lot of black spots on her, which I quite like as my others have litlle black on the,. She also has quite a bit of violet, more than Ive seen on others before, Ill see if I cn dig up a pic.
  4. Reptilenutt I think I actually have one of yours!! I agree I have found no information whatsoever on any possible way of being certain of sex at such a young age. It seems to me they are just trying to push sales which I think is unfortunate for people who may be just getting into keeping reptiles and may get put off by ending up with something other than what they thought they were buying. I would love to know if my juvies are going to be male or female.
  5. Thanks. And so do you only leave it on a few hours a night? Ive got one who only eats 2 bugs every second day approx. I try to get him to take more but he just nudges them around a bit then wanders off.
  6. I dont think those moonlight bulbs actually do produce any uvb. Correct me if Im wrong. If they do I might try it as I have a very slow growing lep. But it doesnt mention UVB in that link or any other sites that have the reptile one moonlight bulbs.
  7. I might try that tonight and see if its possible. Why would they be so secretive though!!
  8. But the incubation temp is definately not certain. You can still get hot females etc.
  9. Someone on this auction is saying they can sex a 4 month old pair of leps to 100% certainty. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=385512287&permanent=0 From everything about leps I have ever read and been told this is impossible so young. Am I wrong and there is a way? If there is Id love to know what it is? I dont see why keeping it a secret will benifit the breeders in anyway?
  10. Sorry I cant post a link to my own auction. And I dont have any photos of the fish in question currently as he is being looked after by my flatmate while I house sit. But I am 99.999% sure he is a eupterus. He started off with the spots being longer like you described, but as they grow the spots round out and become further apart. Although no where near as far apart as you above link!!! I will post a photo of the closest match to him so others can see if maybe Im wrong. He looks just like the fish in this link. http://www.aquariumlife.net/profiles/african-catfish/featherfin-catfish/100062.asp
  11. Have you mixed up your auction link? You asked on my auction what my one was and I said eupterus. However that link is not to my fish and that link looks nothing like my fish either. Just to clear up lol. There are no comments on the auction you linked to that say "eupterus" he only says featherfin.
  12. It definately doesnt look like a featherfin. Closest it looks is an ocellifer but even thats at a stretch.
  13. Theres a few online at the moment. Don't know if I would buy from them as they were telling me they were sure of the sex despite the geckos only being 4 or 5 months old.
  14. Oh I know shes not for sale I read that you were keeping her. Pic just makes me want another one.
  15. Alan she looks fantastic. Might be time for me to get another!
  16. Chihuahuas and Dachshunds are not good breeds to have with children. They get small dog syndrome and get snarly and snappy when frightened. In general children dont know to approach a small dog quietly and slowly so they are almost always scared around kids. As would anyone/thing be, and then get defensive when something huge, fast, loud and unknown approached them. This goes for most toy breed dogs. It is however unfair to label them all yappy and badly trained, that comes down to, and depends entirely on the owner, not the breed of dog. (plus big dogs bark too, but because their barks are not high pitched they are not yappy) Anyway, I would not get either of those two specific dogs especially when there will be more than one child around. If you google dog breed selector there are many options to help pick a better suited dog breed for your situation.
  17. Alan lives close to me and our house did not fare well. We lost all our fish, discus, featherfin, the lot. We couldnt get home in time to save them. Still no power So we had to grab the lizzards and head to my parents and put them with hot water bottles. Left our house with fish water everywhere. Hope someone can get to Alan soon
  18. I just read that thread before but not sure if I would need co2 or not?
  19. Hi, I have a 125l tank that I am wanting to plant out more. It currently only has 2 types of plants (not sure what they are) one of which grows like crazy and I have been able to cut tips off and replant in multiple other tanks. Im after something quite low maint and I have a small budget. Im also looking into possibly making a diy co2 unit if it will help. The plants I like the look of are Amazon sword, stargrass, green tiger lotus, Rotala Rotundifolia, Rotala Macrandra. Any help or suggestions would be great!
  20. Similar but not the same, they both are australian however they live in different habbitats so have slightly different needs. I suggest you do a bit of research, Hot House Turtles have some good information on their website.
  21. They need a UVB light, which must be INSIDE the enclosure as uvb cannot travel through glass or mesh. It also needs to be situated where the dragon can get close enough to it. And they need a basking lamp ove a spot they can bask in.
  22. No problem Ill have a think and come up with a price and timeframe. Then if you want to go ahead Ill draw it up so we can figure out exactly what you want before starting.
  23. Do you want waterfall backround, so water will fall down cracks in the false wall, or just a rocky backround?
