  1. i'm sure they're exactly the same thing as the spirulina tablets health food shops sell, for $30 a pop
  2. i'd say thats exactly what it is, and probably killed quicker than some fishermen do. Now a big enclosure of fishing cats with a river of fish would be cool, when you getting some livingart? :bounce:
  3. what a cool cat looks like a wild cat hybrid of some sort, i know the savanas and early bengals love water.
  4. yup i've seen the packs, and the dog control people teaching it at schools, didn't hear about it being axed though. When was it? livingart- i can't be the only person who thinks those pleco spirulina tabs smell darn good, could eat them some days lol
  5. that sucks, i see so many kids who have no idea how to act around dogs, even the ones with their own dogs at home don't know how to approach a strange dog. And of course when a kid runs up and unintentionally threatens a dog and gets bitten its always the dog who suffers for it. Should be part of basic safety teaching at schools, we pay enough dog registration every year to fund it.
  6. chickens like the odd bit of meat, mine always chase the cats down and take their mice off them, and they love the cat biscuits that have been left in the rain.
  7. yup rabbit food all the way here me and the kids are vege but my cats love a raw chicken carcass
  8. lol bulldogod, we had vegetarian chicken
  9. ah its one of those frustrating things to put it politely but impossible to forget to close
  10. smidey - i got sick of my gate being left open, so i put a spring and latch on it, could you fit one to your gate perhaps? I gave up telling people to close mine because they never do, and even when they do i have to check for my own peace of mind
  11. i'm still annoyed about something yesterday, i was out in the back yard, the dogs barked and ran round the front so i followed, to see two religous people in the yard, one of whom had just picked up my shovel and was swinging it at one of the dogs. I was astounded, snapped my fingers so the dogs fell in next to me and told the people to leave (they weren't keen to!), dogs growling to the whole time. Their utter stupidity amazed me, my boys are large dogs but not at all aggresive, and bark with waggy tails anytime someone comes in the gate, which was very lucky for them. I think most dogs would attack someone who entered their property and attacked them, and a shovel wouldn't do anything to protect you against two big dogs. The dogs were scared and growling next to me, gave them a shock too. I just couldn't believe that people can be sent out door knocking without any idea of how to behave around dogs. Every school kid these days gets taught to stand still like a tree if rushed by a dog, and not to threaten it, and i would never walk into a property with dogs without calling out to make sure they had seen me. They were just lucky that they're well controlled dogs, and i hope some other dog doesn't bite them and get put down for protecting itself. Still trying to get hold of the church to have words. Vent over lol.
  12. I think some of the insulation websites have listings of all the different grades and what they are recommended for, google it? Thats probably not much help sorry. I'm looking at getting 40mm underfloor polystyrine for around my tanks, it seems quite thick and is cheap on that auction site but interested to hear what other people say about the thickness needed. I'd imagine the thicker the better, maybe another thicker sheet behind the one you've got?
  13. not all road signs, but funny anyway most of mine are too rude to post
  14. lmsmith, i've got a couple of decent photos before using a glass, keeps them relativly still. Would be interested to see how your little photo tank turns out The one time i put a killie in the glass to take a photo of him, he did nothing but try to jump out, i put him back into the tank very quickly lol.
  15. sure is oeminx, isn't he pretty i think they've grown a couple of cm already will be setting up a tank just for them in the next couple of weeks, have the boys and girls seperate for now.
  16. i think the main problem was i was letting the camera move too much, tried sitting it on the front of the tank stand and suddenly it focus's quicker Took a heap of photos of my daughters tank, since i can make the room dark easily, but it only has a tiny light at the moment, photos still heaps better though. Here's mister killie, ignore the reflection of the camera lol and some guppies and all i could get of the snakeskin boy was a dissapearing tail, so who can tell me how to teach him to sit still? I'm very happy, the photos are far from perfect but 100 times better than what i was getting before, will keep practising.
  17. ok, i'll get some batteries  and try out a few different ways
  18. I use the macro setting, and it focus's lovely when the flash is on, just wish it would do the same with it off. If i have the room dark and tank lights on the flash still goes, and can't turn it down. What's the iso setting?
  19. I have a half decent camera, fujifilm finepix s5600, but can never get good pics of my fish. With the flash on auto they come out too bright/white and you can't see the colours on the fish (overexposed?) and with it turned off the camera wont focus on anything moving and i just get rainbow blurs of light where the fish are. Can anyone suggest a better setting for the camera, or way of taking photos, or do i need a better camera?
  20. no wonder he's busy, thats alot of water to change every day me hopes he has an auto system, not buckets like me lol i'm doing 40% daily for my guppy fry, no filter, but they have a huge amount of water for just a few fry, will be looking for a good filter before adding any more
  21. there's so many What sort of filter have you got in there, and how many waterchanges do you do on it when its that full?
  22. wow! thats alot of fish, and a cool tank for them. you haven't sold out of hm's have you?
  23. can i butt in to ask how long they take to get that big? we need to find a new algae eater for preschool, their pleco got too big too quick. They've got a 28L (i think).
