  1. yup just asume everyone else can't drive, and stay out of their way. i lived in auckland all my life until 1 1/2 years ago, now i find it daunting, everyone drives so aggresively. don't go over 40km around here, unless your on the highway.
  2. i'm pretty sure when they updated the laws though, when showing it on the news they said you have to indicate right. Perhaps thats why everyone does it.
  3. after googleing i have to admit i was wrong. you have to signal left before exiting, but not right when entering, when going straight ahead. I better stop indicating right then lol. Wonder where my driving instructor got his license?
  4. on the topic of indicating though, i can't stand people that drive along with one of their indicators going for ages. I always want to pull up next to them and shout at them to turn it off.

they are pretty, would look nicer in a natural tank too i think. when i have another nice big tank i'll look for a nice pleco, i've got one of those evil golden algae eaters in our biggest one at the moment.
  6. since failing my test for it, i indicate right, then left, when going straight ahead. You can see the sense when its one like the panmure roundabout, but on normal ones its silly.
  7. because they formalised it in the road rules a year or two ago, if you're going straight you have to indicate right, then left. I failed my driving test because at a roundabout with no road on the left, i didn't indicate when going straight ahead. Where else could i have been going? Edit Billaney when I later found out that it wasn't really a law until the next year.

    zebra plecos

yup thats the one. I was just reading through old threads on here about them, sounds like there's some hope of people holding onto them quietly and trying to breed.

i just googled it and got the same thing. Its a shame, they're such gorgeous fish. If the few who have them managed to breed them surely there'd be enough to share round before long, I imagine they'd have fair size spawnings? I'll wait patiently for it to happen...

Can we get these here? I thought we couldn't get them, and i've never seen them, but i just stumbled on someones old webpage where they are breeding them. I'd love a couple, such cool markings.

    Silly dageti

We've just had the same thing. Went to check my killies and one was missing, found him on the floor Must have jumped out through the tiny space between the edge of the filter and the hood. I'm off to buy tape and tape up every gap.
  15. I've got mts. I've just bought another tank and have no where to put it. Only place left in the house which is safe from the kids is the laundry, but its freezing in there, about the same temp as outside, which got down to -3 at night last winter. So what would be the best way to insulate a tank in there to save on heating costs? Its 60L or so, standard glass tank. I was thinking, good thick poly underneath, and perhaps the same between the back and the wall, and then a wrap of some sort, maybe like the wool underlay ones? Something I can throw over the top, front and sides at night to keep it warm. Any better suggestions?
  16. thanks for clearing that up. I just remember seeing them all, and wondering where they'd suddenly appeared from since I hadn't seen any like that before. While wishing I could afford them lol. Maybe the tiny amount of water was so they could fit more oxygen in, I imagine they'd be packed in there for quite awhile going through the post.
  17. Did anyone see those really nice half moon fighters that someone had on tm a few months back? He had 20 or so, all different colours and shapes, all really perfect, and wouldn't say much about them. Have to wonder if this was the same person. Sad though, they were lovely fish.
  18. *shudders* those eyes are creepy. You planning your own see-through fish?
  19. seems to be, the plants are still growing well but they're going sideways cause i've had to point the light in from the side. When I replace the light in the hood next week i'll put the lamp over the glass top fry tank, should work well on there. You can get desk lamps to fit normal bulbs for about $20 from the warehouse usually. Or try tm.
  20. a desk lamp that fits normal bulbs, with powersave lightbulb 100 or 150w equivilant? I'm doing that at the moment until I can replace the bulb in my hood.
  21. thanks darkfur I like the fins and tail on the female, they look like glass. Wish I had a rego for the site to see what else they've come up with.
  22. yes sorry, browsing the net. They'd be in my tank if i'd seen them in the shops lol. Credit to designer-guppy.com for the pics then
  23. just stumbled on these while browsing and had to share in case people haven't seen them. They're gross and disturbing but i can't help looking too. Interesting how you can see the unhatched fry in the female.
