  1. I was thinking the same as MGilchrist. I lost most of my fish once, due to a water change with a bucket that had been used the day before with Ajax in it. I now have 2 buckets that are only used for fish. Hope you manage to save the rest.
  2. I have been offered some tiny angel babies. They have been livin on Brine shrimp only since birth. Can I change them onto fine flake food now??? Or do I need to continual the brine shimp??? Thanks very much
  3. I know my fish know that I am the one that feeds them. My partner and boys can walk over to the tank, they take no notice. I can just be gettin up out of the chair, and they are runnin to the front of the tank, with there little mouth yellin "FEED ME, FEED ME".............lol........who said fish only have 3 second brains????
  4. That was the first thing that we thought of, and checked both the heater and the filter. Nope they were both fine..........I guess it is goin to be a unknow cause.......
  5. Again no, It was only one tank out of 6 that done this. I honestly thought I was goin to wake up to a tank full of dead fish, but they are all fine today.
  6. This is really weird I know, but last night, just as we were about to head to bed, all my angels in the tank went mad. Flyin around the tank, wackin into things, jumpin and just really loosin the plot. They then all looked as if they were goin to die. In our panic, thinkin that something had happened, we checked for heater cracks, or anything that may course shock, everything seemed ok. After about 30 mins, and all the fish looking like they were goin to die, we added some stress coat, and did a bit of a water change. They seem to slowly come right. This mornin they are acting normal. WHAT HAPPENED?????? Why did they do this????
  7. Oh dear, what have I done...........
  8. Opps, hmmm ok I will get another piece of glass, and put it in the inside. I knew I should have asked before I did this.
  9. Ok one of my tanks had a large crack in the bottom. So I brought a new piece of glass, and siliconed to the bottom, leavin the cracked bit still there, as it would have been mish to get off. What I need to know: Is that all I need, or should I put another strip of glass on the inside on top of crack as well??????? Thx
  10. Hey there everyone, my friend has a prob withher goldfish, which I have been trying to help her with. ok here goes.........she lives in the spray zone but they are inside in a tank, with a lid. One spray day it seemed really bad in the house even though it was shut up, and Pam went out, when she returned she opened up the house to air it out. Ok the next day one goldfish had dyed, then 4 days later anyother dyed. I went over to have a look, and there is like this thin layer of bubbles around the top of the tank on the sides. Pam does a water change every 3 days, 1/3. SO because of these bubbles I told her to do it everyday for a week. 3 days later another fish has dyed, and the 3 that are left are not looking to healthy. She has had these goldfish for a while now, and never had a prob before, (apart from a cat in the tank). The bubbles are still formin around the tank, and I just give up on what to do........HELP.....any ideas????

  14. Hey Dark......That would be great, as yes I am going to have to look at getting a stand. Would love to see the pics of yours. You didn't put me off at all, this thread confirmed for me that in this house it would not be a good idea, thats all. Thanks to everyone for there thoughts.
  15. I think I will store this in the shed till we move to a place with concert floors. That story was just the end of thinking about it.
  16. LOL Carly, we rent this house, and I don't think the landlord will be happy with that. How do you know what is a load bearing wall????
  17. This is something that we ended up talking about last night. The weight!!! We live in a old wooden floored villa, and were thinking that the weight of the tank full will be about 1 ton. Will our floor hold that? LMAO Oh dear I am beginnin to think I have done the wrong thing buying this nice big tank.
  18. Thanks for all the info so far. Now I have another question. I am thinking of gettin a stand for it, but what would be the cheapest type to get made, steel of wood??? Also does anyone know anybody in Hamilton that do this as cheap as poss.....................thanks again
  19. I have just got a new 6 foot tank. I want to use it for my bigger tropicals. My questions are: 1) What size heaters or heaters should I use? I do have one 300w will this be enough? And 2) I would like to put a nice big piece of drift wood in it, where can I get one? If I get one from the beach what would I need to do with it? Thanks all
