  1. the larger versions of the Jebo HOB filters use a basket, like the ones in the Aquaclear filters. shame they don't have them in the smaller units yet.
  2. I am positive that Auckland members would be keen on a Molly hunt. Just let us know when. :bounce: :bounce:
  3. I am currently using the 502 on a small tank at home my only gripe is that if the filter pad gets clogged then the water will overflow all over the place. To stop this from happening I have not pushed the filter pad all the way down by leaving a small gap at the bottom so that it won't overflow. If the filter pad was slightly shorter would of been good.. which means that if the pad did clog up it would flow over the filter pad and into the tank.. not out the back over the filter and then onto the floor.
  4. we normally do tea, coffe, juice and biscuits at our meeting. guess who does the juice
  5. Now if you had the meeting on the 21st I would of been able to make it.
  6. once again it comes down to what filtration you have in place.
  7. I wouldn't use it. use something like silicon
  8. Don't forget. Auckland Fishkeepers meet tomorrow night. We have a beaut auction going as well. lots of nice fishy stuff. So SEE YOU ALL THERE!!!!!
  9. Tirau - Tropical Blues Tauranga - Quite a few. I am sure people will let you know about those ones Rotorua - Wonderworld Napier - Deco City Pets Hastings - Aqua Fever Palmy - Wet Pets Animates? You didn't specify which route you were going to go
  10. I don't think setting up a sump is any more expensive than buying a big canister filter. simple to setup and use as well. all your heaters could go in the sump so you don't have any showing in your main tank. I have seen an 8ft tank with a 3ft sump in it and it works fine.
  11. what about leaving the centre divider and just cut a large hole in it? that would stop the need for bracing on top of the tank... be a good talking point as well As for the sump holes. Make use of them... use one of your 3ft or 4ft tank as a sump and then use your 2 canister filters to take the water back up into the main tank. That way you get extra filtration. (which can only be good)
  12. I have been sufferning from MTS for quite a while now and have only really just got on top of things. definitely not a disease for the poor
  13. so that means that it will have one hell of a powerhead to create the massive waves and a radio controlled ferry  some missing divers too!! guess it wouldn't be complete with a swerage outlet or two as well
  14. If you have insurance Best you notify your insurance company about your fish tank. If it goes through the floor you are covered.
  15. From the plans I have seen, you can still have a picnic there. there is going to be public space around the aquarium for people to walk around
  16. sounds like a plan I will mention it to our members.
  17. As long as you have alot of fast growing plants in the tank then Algae would not be a problem. I have 2 cold water tanks on a north facing window sill and got it planted with Indian fern and water sprite. No green algae. (or very little amounts of it)
