  1. Henward read Koji's post on Tanning in the Arowana forum on MFK, the colour should improve with some time spent under the right lighting and with a good diet.
  2. Nice, I'm glad someone bought it, it was a steal!!
  3. They're awesome fish, great attitude, and yes they'll have small teeth. It sounds like your tank isn't big enough for two males, so you should probably get rid of one.
  4. Would be interesting to see how it handled with all the weight over the front, they're a well balanced little car and can handle quite well. I'd pick a 13b or just supercharge the factory 1800, but as you said, each to their own. Oh yeah, looks like a good day out! Where was the train?
  5. There's all sorts of restrictions on what you can do in the years following declaring yourself bankrupt. Tell her to thoroughly look thru the IRD website (or who ever it is) and talk to an accountant about it. And maybe a lawyer.
  6. I don't think there's any actual rules about which lane goes where at a round about, it would obviously vary considerably depending on the size of the round about, number of lanes and the number of exits. That is why they're usually marked and signposted.
  7. How big is the tank? They don't get big at all, maybe 12-15cm tops. Compared to most nasty central americans thats tiny..
  8. You guys have missed the real cause of the problem; is mum was driving an off-road vehicle instead of a cars. IMO SUV's should be like trucks or race cars, and require special licenses and permits to drive them on the road because of the dangers associated with them...
  9. Yep its normal, my old male would attack the cat through the glass...
  10. Interesting read... http://www.stuff.co.nz/4692247a11.html
  11. I poured boiling water over a piece of driftwood covered in hair algae and it made it a heap easier to scrub off.
  12. I can relate to that. I'm trying to get her a bit more interested, she's got a little tank with "Pinky" the convict, but she is flat out studying this year for her final CA exam so hasn't got much time to look after it.
  13. ...or a blender. Wide tanks are awesome, I'd never buy a tank that was taller than it is wide. Adding width would good for the fish you're keeping as it would mean more room for territories, and more surface area.
  14. Thats a red head severum (Heros Sp. 'Rotkeil'), should chuck it in with mine see if they'll make babies. BTW its not a Geophagus, its either Satanoperca jurupari or S. leucosticta.
  15. I hope you don't keep fish FeedingFrenzy....
  16. We did Rangitoto in an afternoon, caught the 12 ferry over and the 5pm one back, its a nice hike to the summit but if you've got kids or aren't too fit it would probably be better to leave it. The devonport ferry would be fun for the ride, you could have a coffee in devonport and the catch it back again. I agree about Cornwall park (if its a nice day!), I have many fond childhood memories of picknicks, walks and the playground (which probably by now has had most of the fun safety'd out of it by osh). Another fun thing to do with kids is the high ropes course at Woodhill forrest. http://www.treeadventures.co.nz/ The out of towners usually mock it, but I think they're just jealous that there's so much to do.
  17. I'm sure Richard could do you a better price than that if you were ordering 50+ 8) I'm guessing the biotope would be a sandy bottom with fast flowing water, wood, maybe some plants and river rocks.
  18. Glenbrook is closed for winter maintenance. Hollywood Fish Farm in Mt Roskill is worth a look. The ferry to devonport isn't that exciting, but the old tunnels at North Head are interesting to walk around on a sunny day. The War Memorial Museum is good too.
  19. Wow!! A couple of hundred perhaps?? Would love to see it. I saw a vid of someone with a similarly large tank keeping a school of neons with a big arowana. The tank was planted and the aro well fed and it mostly ignored the neons.
  20. Depends if you put them thru a blender first... What are the other dimensions? Any other fish in there?
  21. I haven't even read that thread... :-?
  22. I agree Sharkie, look at what happened to the police officer who shot the guy (Steven Wallace?) who was going on a rampage with a baseball bat years ago. I'd say is life has been far more ruined than it will be for the guy that killed this police officer. And the prisoners in Hastings who were moved because their cells were mouldy. They should have been given a toothbrush and a bottle of jif and told to start scrubbing...
  23. Oh well, the eggs have gone this morning, but the fact that they guarded them for 24 hours longer than before is encouraging. Hopefully when I get the 5' set up I'll be able to put these guys in the 3' and get them to raise some fry!
  24. William Bell is the guy who shot and killed 3 people at the Panmure RSA while out on parole. Yet another one with a list of convictions as long as your arm, obviously showing no desire to rehabilitate and become a contributing member of society, if he didn't deserve a bullet before the RSA thing he sure does now...
