  1. Another puffer? Or kuhli's.... lots and lots of kuhli's. 8)
  2. Aw, no one thinks I should get a bichir? I expected more pro-monster-fish-keepers. I do enjoy my 'golden oldies', so I guess a spruce up is just what the tank needs, as opposed to a complete revamp. Still, I'm not entirely sure yet. Decisions, decisions! :-?
  3. "Charlieeee, Charlieeee..." I love that vid!
  4. I like my glowlights, mine are pretty chilled and laid back, and they're more interesting than I first thought. They're definately a must-have for my community tank(s). I don't know what the others are like to keep, sorry. Have fun choosing!
  5. Well I still haven't decided yet... I tried bidding on the "dwarf" bichir on you-know-where, but the owner wouldn't ship! So I've narrowed it down to two choices: a) Get a baby bichir and grow it up. (Possibly with my angels - or would they get 'mowed down' too?) b) Keep my angels, cardinals, glowlights and maybe my blue rams. Either way I'm going to plant the whole tank out with Amulija and put the driftwood back in. Anyone want to vote?
  6. If the BF will let me... Otherwise my Australe's will be chilling with the Clown's until I can find them a good home. My other killies will become lunch if no one wants them. RARR!
  7. Sounds nice, Sandy. I'll definately have to come by for a look sometime. I think I'll put my driftwood back into the tank, stuff it full of Amulija (spelling?), take out my little fish (tetras, killies and guppies) and try get that 'dwarf' Senegal bichir off the unmentionable site. If it eat my other fish - oh well, I still have a bichir, and if it doesn't - then YAY! But now I have to plan how to get rid of my precious babies. I'm certainly reluctant about giving away Mr Australe Gold! Hmm... plotting time.
  8. LOL! Well I'm missing up between scraping it all and getting a baby bichir or just sticking with the Angels, Rams and Cardinals like Dixon suggested. (In which case I would be keeping my kuhli's too - I love them!) I was eying up some hatchet fish today... yes... must win lotto... Maybe I can convince the BF to let me get another tank.... hmm *Dreams of converting the laundry into a fish-room*

    My biube!!!

Holy crap that looks gorgeous!! *is jealous of your aquascaping abilities* Nice to see it looking so good, I can't see you getting any study done with that sitting on your desk though. Does the boyfriend approve?
  10. Well I've currently got a random assortment of fish, so a biotype tank would be nice. The last bit of driftwood I put in my tank leaked A LOT of tannin and my water is still brownish! so I'd like to avoid driftwood if I can. I like: Bichirs Angelfish Rams Kuhli loaches Bumblebee Gobys Killies Glowlight tetra ~Cardinal tetra (Sort of gone off them after a couple got parasites. Ew) And I love planted tanks
  11. Hi all, I'm toying with the idea of doing a complete re-vamp of my current 'big' tank, ie changing all the fish, plants and decorations, and I'd like to hear what everyone thinks would be good to put in there. It's a ~220L tank, 915x380x500mm. I'm not really into African's, *hides*, or brackish fish. I'm pretty much open to all other ideas. Let the suggestions begin!
  12. You're going to regret asking that, I warn you! Caramel & Volkanite - Angelfish Ray & Alicia - Blue Rams Tyrannacore & Imp - Albino Gardneri killies Choppa, Ditz & Datz - Dageti killies Spark, Shya & Oblivia - Australe Gold killies Splash, Splotch, Bandit, Paleface & Shrimp - Kuhli loaches "The Shoal of Simon" - Glowlight tetra Bubblefin, Bubblechin, Fatty & Baby (4 unnamed) - Cardinal tetra Spike, Lemon, Lady & Lass - Guppies Sheeny - BN Shane - Glass fish Otto - ... Otto Miss - Female Siamese Fighter 3 unnamed Goby's & 2 unnamed killies have yet to be picked on. Looking back at that list, I can't believe almost all my fish have names.
  13. LOL! I guess you're right, but I'm not sure how happy a bichir would be in my tank. (220L, 915Lx38mmWx500Hmm)
  14. Well I've left a question asking how old it is, (btw, how long till a bichir reaches full growth anyway?). Hmm ... tetra's or bichir, tetra's or bichir? This will take some thinking.
  15. I'm genuinely interested in purchasing this supposed 'dwarf bichir', but as I've never had any type of bichir before and I've never heard of dwarf ones, I'm wondering if the fish is just stunted or something. So first off: Is it possible to have dwarf senegal bichirs that reach a max length of 8cm? Secondly: Would it really be possible to put it in a community tank like the seller suggests? Thirdly: Are there any special requirements bichirs need that I wouldn't be able to find via google? I'd really like some help on this, as I said, it will be my first time buying a bichir if I go for it. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Home-living/Pe ... 950792.htm
  16. Ok, I finally got some pics, sorry about the quality! (And the cleanliness of the tank) The 'bubble' is most definitely getting bigger, but he doesn't seem to notice or care. I'm not worried about him dieing, but I don't want it spreading around my tank! (He looks very sparkly in the second picture and I cannot figure out why! He looks normal in reality.)
  17. I've finally got my camera working and decided to test it out taking pics of my clowns' tank! It's looking a bit cheesy at the moment, what with the couple of random ornaments and variety of plants - and it will continue to look that way until I get my hands on some more java moss! Anyway, here it is: (With my great light, which heats the tank more than it brightens it!) The little guy stalking his freeze-dried bloodworms... Close up, with a nice reflection. My female was far too shy to get in front of the camera, and there is an otto hidden in there somewhere as well. Unfortunately my camera can't capture the real beauty of my little clown, he's fins are really gorgeous and he even flares up his fins for me in person. Awesome little fish. Hopefully once I get more java moss and get rid of the ornaments and some of the other plants, they will become baby-making machines! 8)
  18. Is there not an option somewhere on Bebo's homepage to sign up as a band?
  19. Killifish? It would make a great terrarium though... Guorami's? You could build up one side and turn it into a kuhli loach tank!! A swarm of bumblebee goby's? A bunch of otto's? Ok, so none of those ideas (except the killifish) are really plausible... but I still reckon the kuhli loach tank would be great!
  20. Thanks for all the advice guys! I really, really hope it's just a stage she's going through. For such a small critter, she's got great lung capacity!! Kitty will be sleeping in my room tonight with the door open. If she starts with the power-meowing again, however, the laundry will be converted to 'the kitty room'. *fingers crossed*
  21. Over the past couple of days I've noticed a strange 'growth' on the underside of one of my cardinal tetra's front fins. On closer inspection the growth appears to be a clear-ish bubble with some sort of worm/stringy thing inside it. Bubblefin (the tetra afflicted with this 'growth'), appears to be in good health otherwise. Albeit, a few of my other tetra are noticeably fatter than him. He doesn't appear to be trying to get rid of the thing via scratching, and he acts just like the rest of the group. I just noticed another tetra with what looks to be a similar growth however. This time, it's on the poor guy's chin (Bubblechin!). Again the tetra seems fine and I'm seeing no signs of distress. After googling fish parasites, I haven't found anything that quite fits what I'm looking at. Anchor/Fluke worm seems to be the most similar of all the parasites I found, but I'm not sure how to treat it and there is no broken skin around the effected area - so maybe it's something else? From that description, does anyone have any clue what it might be and how to treat it? I've been using tonic salt and have seen no change. I'll try get a picture up soon.
  22. What I want to know is why anyone would attack an iguana... I mean really... that's just pathetic!
  23. I'm tossing up between leaving my door open and continuing to ignore her in the hope that she'll stop. I'll see how she is tonight, knowing me, I'll probably cave and learn to live with her attacking everything in the morning. The howling is just too horrible - she really knows how to guilt people.
  24. Absolutely not!! My kitty is mostly an indoor-cat and, my boyfriend can confirm this, I get extermly worried when I can't find her at night to bring her inside. She does get locked outside during the day by accident, but never on purpose! She is always kept inside during the night. It also pays to note I'm surrounded by other student flats, so luckily there's not much native wildlife around that's endangered by my friendly little girl.
