  1. I have an AR-380 with a couple of Scarlet Darios and a few Pygmy Corys in it, I would go as far as saying that it is almost silent, aslong as the water is full to the top, I haven't had an issue at all with it and wouldn't hesistate in recommending it as a small tank (although I agree the bigger the tank the better, especially if you are new to fish keeping).
  2. Unfortunately i can't head to Palmy massive day on Monday, Wellington, Wanganui, New Plymouth and then driving to Rotorua for the night!
  3. Sorry, I’m know this has been done a hundred times on other posts, I have tried to find as many as I can, but I’m doing a trip around parts of the north island next week for work, I plan on checking out the best LFS’s on the way (not so interested on the average) around the place, I plan on visiting – Whangarei - ? Auckland – HFF & Pupuke Hamilton – World of Water Rotorua – Wonderland Tauranga - ? New Plymouth - ? Wanganui - ? Wellington - ? If anyone can add some must see stores It would be greatly appreciated! thanks Jared
  4. .... it's not for me, i would struggle to keep any kind of fish in 1.5 litres of water without feeling guilty!
  5. Putting more fish in that tank is about as practical as walking across the harbour bridge, drunk, with an umbrella in the wind and in high heels! Fantastic analogy
  6. Looking at setting up my new tank (and I am ridiculously excited) and looking at this for substrate http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing ... =321363393 I am just wanting to make sure it wont get sucked up the gravel siphon from it being too light? thanks Jared
  7. Thats undecided, in the past i have kept discus, brazilian puffers bichir, mono's & scats & community tanks and loved them all... so its a really hard decision, sadly the tank that i have brought I know will only keep me satisfied for a few months.... Organism used to be my local place to get something a bit different so hoping when i get up there my decision will be made for me
  8. Hi All, Not new here, but haven't been a visitor since 2006! I thought i had moved on from my addiction of fish keeping.... but clearly I haven't! About to set up a new tank and looking for a bit of inspiration, have been looking around the local pet shops in Dunedin... and haven't found much to my liking... in fact sadly it has left a lot to be desired, going to head up to Christchurch (my old stomping ground) in a couple of weeks to check things out there..... Can anyone recommend the best places for Tropical in Dunedin.... if any?
  9. My preferences are Organism - Cnr Ilam and Clyde Road - John and Toby are great, always give good advice and are always willing to help - their tanks and fish are always clean and healthy...... Redwood Aquatics - Hussey Rd - just by Willow bank.....lots of stock, they import their fish (all are quarantined) Very impressive Salt water Fish, Corals and display tanks) Jared

    puffers

Mine eat any..... normally the kind that plague your tank (if you dont have any clown loaches or any other snail eaters) I havent/wont give them an apple snail... (just seems cruel)

    puffers

I ordered my Brazilians from Hollywoods in Auckland and had them shipped to Christchurch, i think including freight they worked out to be around $35 each, although I have had them for about a year I think. I keep mine with Figure 8s, Spotted and Dwarf puffers and a plec... surprisingly they all seem to ignore the plec (lucky for him).

    puffers

I really recommend the Brazilian Puffer, there are one of the most friendly species of puffers and are fresh water so you can have your normal plants! I have 5 of these guys and they are all around about 5-6cms, there are very very actice and cute.... the only thing with these is you must feed them lots of snails... their teeth grow very fast!
  17. out of curiosity, how long did it take to attach itself? thanks Jared

    Mudskippers

Apparently so, I was talking to John at Organism a while back and he said they were readily available.... and could order them for me if i wished. Apparently they didnt need land.. they mostly sat at the top of the water with their eyes above the water.
