  1. Thanks for the ideas. I'm probably veering more towards the indian fern or maybe the echinodorus uraguayensis. Will have to keep my eyes peeled and try to find some.
  2. Hi, What options are out there for use as a floating plant? Duckweed and riccia just get sucked into the filter so they're no good. My discus seem to like it under the sag I have floating but thats going to a new home and I'd love to replace it with something. Any hints or ideas? Cheers
  3. Hi , Is there anyone out there from christchurch going to queenstown this weekend who would be able to bring a fish back?( I'll supply the polybox, bag, rubberbands and heatpads) Please pm me, Cheers, Lambo
  4. Yeah, just the discus. Other than that, they are normal.
  5. That was the closest idea i came up with as well but i discarded it as the discus are still young and wouldn't be producing milk yet. Probably have to re-home them as the discus are starting to stress out a bit. ( Anyone want 3 pure black lyretail mollies and 1 black and gold molly? )
  6. Hi, i recently had a spawn of 20 black lyretail mollies but only 4 made it past infancy. Unfortunately they have taken to attacking my blue turq discus' and generally making a right nuisance of themselves. My query is this, is this normal behavour or have I got an anomoly on my hands? and if so, should I find a new home for them?

    GBA with a spot

Well thats good to know. Thanks for all the great advice. It seemed very unusual for it to appear like it did though and it had me just a little worried, but I can now rest easy

    GBA with a spot

I hope not, that would really p*** me off as I bought them as gba's. The guy I bought them off had a tank full of them at the time. Having had another look at mine the spot is only half the size I originally described

    GBA with a spot

I have three gba's all the same age and all off the same person and they are about 5cm long now. One of them and only one of them has developed a browny/black spot on its side directly below its dorsal fin and it's about the size of the end of a pencil. Any ideas what this could be and if it would cause any harm to itself and/or other fish? Cheers
  10. That sounds like a more logical answer, I haven't bred bn's myself so i wasn't able to say for sure. Sounds like he has some really fat sae"s and more baby bn's on their way  Thanks for your help 8)
  11. A friend of mine has a small tank and has had bristlenoses breed successfully in there,of which I was given 6 for my tank. Now in this tank he has a couple of very large sae's, and I thought they looked very fat/fatter than I'd ever seen them before. The larger one of the two jumped out of the tank yesterday and they picked him/her up and chucked him/her back in straight away. A little later on they saw what looks like "orange caviar sized eggs"(their words) floating around in the tank. I haven't been round for a look yet, but was wondering if this sounds like the sae's have bred?
  12. Thanks for all the offers guys. Their bags are packed and they are going on holiday, while their house gets renovated.
  13. Hi there, I'm in the process of changing my tank over to a new cichlid set up and I'm hoping someone will be able to look after my bristlenoses for about a week. There are three almost full grown normal bristlenoses (maybe one baby) and three small gba's. Please pm me if you can help me out. Thanks

All advice is greatly accepted and taken on board, cheers guys. My plan was to get about ten or so fry and then hopefully end up with about 2 males and 4 or 5 females. If only it could be as simple as that eh?

lol, that was a good guess. Not sure if it was 25 or 35 or somewhere in between. Was too stunned by what i saw and the possibilties they presented. I'm not in any hurry though, I like to do as much research on a species that i can before i begin, get it right the first time i reckon

I haven't bought any yet. Wanted to make sure if my tank was suitable first. nevermind. An LFS here has about ten fry for sale at the moment and i was very tempted

Hi there, I was wondering if a 300 litre tank would be big enough for about a colony of ten of these guys.
  21. Hi there TGWH, pleased to hear the rummy noses are settling in well. Still haven't been able to replace them with anything yet but theres no hurry eh? Cheers, Lambo(aka Craig)
  22. Hi Phil, Any chance you could share your successful treatment with us. It would save a lot of people a lot of grief and disappointment with their losses
