I'm of the opinion that you should do a lot of water changes while cycling, better to keep ammonia and nitrite levels low and just live with a slightly longer cycle than have a short cycle that kills fish. That being said, I haven't even bothered with checking for ammonia when setting up new tanks in ages. Just transfer some gravel or media from another tank and call it good.

You probably are cycled, but test it for ammonia and nitrates first.

Yeah, that's about 1.5 months too long, especially during cycling.

I'd think practically everything would have gotten into NZ waters without human assistance at some time in the last hundred thousand years and either survived or died. Someone dumping a few clowns into the water isn't likely to have a different result.

Hmmm, the only thing I've come up with is that the printed loach is also called the Batik Loach. So, I suspect Batik is printed in another language. Tropical Blue's website was one of the results though. Not helpful, unfortunately. So, looks like the name is more of a descriptive than useful. Basically means, a Gold eel with spots and stripes.

Sounds like you'll need the scientific name instead of the one that the wholesaler probably pulled out of his as...err, out of the air. Though, is there any type of eel that has a variation of "Batik" in its name? That could narrow it down.

The only things I can logically see being banned for Marines is anything particularly venomous or poisonous. I can't imagine there is much in a marine tank that would survive being dumped in a local river. Which seems to be most of the reasoning behind banned FW fish.

Until they see your tank and for reasons known only to them decide that yellow tangs need to be eradicated.

It looks like the address is for a session on that host. I'd guess the session expires after an hour or so from the time she last used it. Then the picture becomes unavailable to everyone.

I have seen jurupari described has having faint yellow. That's why I suspect it's a regional/subspecies. Like, you've got a caucasian jurupari and the picture of an asian Jurupari, Chris has an irish jurupari...

(Pssst, Andrew, June is mid summer there) I think winters though, it doesn't get far below 20C except maybe at night.

The superglue sticks fine. I'm not sure about the liquid type, but they gel type apparently works great. Reef people use it frequently on corals and we all know how anal retentive they are. :lol:

Nope, that's definitely the right fish, other than the colORation which may be due to some fiddling with the photo or some slight subspecies difference.

I wouldn't suggest using it. And I don't think it would stick anyway. How about try some superglue?

I've got a skimmer that would probably work if I had it set up the way it was intended...But it's intended to be run in a sump, I don't have one.

What kind of plant is it? What are your water conditions? What's your lighting, tank, etc? I'm clueless about plants, but, that'll save the experts having to ask you.

On the way home I got a call from the wifey. Power was out AGAIN. At least this time it was only out for 6 hours. I think doing fish stuff kills the power.
