Here is my new boy, currently un-named but much loved. Couldn't believe my eyes when i saw him, he's lovely :bounce:
-
wow amazing. where abouts did you get them from?
-
I see! That will be why the blackmoore's white spots have gone and the goldfish have got something different. Thanks heaps! Will see how we go
-
Ok here we go, i got some Furan 2 today after all so i'll put that in shortly and see how we go. So, is this white spot or fin rot? Or both?? This is the one that's got it the worst but the other comets have the same symptoms too but their tails aren't as bad 0.0 Mr. Fantail has some scales missing at the base of his tail and has the fuzzy white getting worse by the day on his tail. This is their house. Plenty of plants, 500L/ph filter and some nice bubbles too, so i don't think that's the problem >< Tyvm x

Girlfriend decided to steal my account  So until my new one gets approved, here are a couple bad quality pics. Didn't have the best of cameras at the time sorry.
-
Oh right, that makes more sense. I will do that, thank you ^^

So i basically just squirt the salt water onto the fish? one of them is covered in white stuff from head to bum... completely covered. so i'd have to pour it over him? haha >< shouldn't laugh, poor thing. Ok thanks heaps i'll put some rock salt in there tomorrow after i do another water change as there's whitespot stuff in there at the moment. I'll still post a picture tomorrow

I'll put a piccy up tomorrow when i get the camera ^^

There's now 2 tiny blackmoore's, 1 5cm fantail and 3 4cm comets... I doubt it's over-crowding as i had 4 comets and 1 fantail in a 29L tank for a while until i put my tropicals into their bigger tank... I just noticed a couple of little "salt" lookin spots on the blackmoore... Then it was just incredible when i got back... They all look like mouldy rotting fish.. Really quite grose >< Ok i'll have to get the Furan but i can't get it until Friday Will they die if i don't get it until then? Yea they all got fed once while away by someone who has no idea about anything fishy, but when i cleaned tank today there wasn't excess food in the stones. Really sad to see them looking like this =(

Hey folks, I recently got 2 blackmoore's to add to my 65L goldie tank. I realised once i'd put them into my tank they had a few white spots on their tails! So the next day i got some white spot treatment and put that in, then put some more in a few days later (like it says to on the bottle..) I went away for 2 nights and came back to my goldfish looking like they're rotting! Two of the comets tails look like they have fin rot.. Their tails are only half there and the bone things in their tails just look like hairs now with no ...fin inbetween? Also their bodies are covered in fluffy yuk stuff. All the goldfish have weird white stuff on their tails and bodies and now the blackmoore's are almost healed. They're also acting really weirdly but i guess they're just itchy or something? I did about a 70% water change today to try and get rid of some of the old treatment. Is this just REALLY bad white spot? Or is it REALLY bad fin rot? Why would it have got so bad in only 3 days? Also, should i keep using white spot cure or melafix? Appologies for dumb questions but any help much appreciated!! xx

I must say, they look even better in real life Photo's don't really capture their true colours. Good to know yours are doing well Paul. Leroy

I decided to do a 'test' spawn on my latest pair of betta's earlier this week, Monday night to be precise, continuing over to Tuesday morning. Wasn't planning on raising the fry, just wanted to see if the two were compatible and how they did etc, needless to say, they're near perfect parents and I really couldn't ask for better. A good 300+ eggs. So they finished spawning, from what i had gathered. So I took her out and thought that was it. 2 days later however, her egg tube is still showing, and on the 3rd day after the original spawn, her tummy is starting to look full again... I waited until today (Saturday) and put them back in together to see what would happen. Several hours later, she's back in on the action and another 300+ eggs afterwards, she's finally finished. From what thought, there was a good 2 week+ waiting time for the female to spawn again...? Does this happen often? Any explanation for it? I thought she may have just not finished... but who knows. Either way she's dropped a whole heap of eggs this week Will try post some pics tomorrow hopefully, if there's any good ones :-?

Only part you need to worry about is... It's a little bit like survivor, at each meeting they vote out 1 member. That member must quit fish keeping altogether and leave the country ASAP. If they don't comply, they'll be forced to watch Jaws 1-3 for the next 16 years of there life, with no ad breaks. Those are the rumors anyway. I've heard they're true....

Ron has some amazing fish. Congrats on the win
-
Would love to breed him with my Halfmoon female  I'm currently watching her and the male attempt to spawn, but he hasn't finished building his nest 8)
-
Wow you got him from a pet store? Which one? Animalz in Petone had some decent crowns the other week but nothing compared to him. Nice find
-
Does Hutt Pets really buy them for half the retail price? My partners sister got $1 for around 30 guppies once :-? This was a while ago I believe... maybe (hopefully!) they changed that
-
Should post some pics :bounce:
-
Haha cool thanks, good to know. I love my guppies and since i don't have the angels yet don't mind so much if i don't have them. They are cool though. That sucks, but thanks! Yes a muzzle for fish? Just like my partner wants to get a cape for his fighter? >.>
-
Hey i was just wondering if i get a pair of angelfish, will they attack my male guppies? I have 10 and their tails are big and bright like a fighter and i've read that angelfish attack fighters... What do you think? ^^

Another thing you may want to note is that neons and hatchets are schooling fish. I'd personally say 4 would be the bare minimum, but it all depends on the fish's personality. Just something to look out for as they may get stressed. Swordtails are suppose to be schooling fish as well but all the one's I've had don't hang out together at all, usually just go there seperate ways. I guess it just varies per fish.

Can only keep 1 male fighter per tank. This means you can't have females in the same tank as the male either unfortunately. You can however have multiple females in the same tank, without a male. I have heard of them to nip occasionally but it's usually OK I believe. I've also heard of 1 male fighter and multiple females (5+, I don't think 2 would cut it) in one tank but I personally wouldn't recommend it. It's really a trial and error... just have back up tanks ready in case you have to seperate them. All fighters tend to have different personality. One of mine for example is incredibly shy and hides a lot, while the other is vicious and flares at anything... including stupid snails 8) They're selfish little things

Be VERY careful when you go snorkeling. Make sure you ask around to see if it's safe. I was about to go to a little place not far from Apia... until I later found out that a sewage outlet was near there and the water was quite polluted. Things could have changed though as this was about 6 years ago now. We stayed at the Kitano Tusitala and it was pretty good. Nothing extremely fancy but a good place to stay and would happily go back there. Just be prepared for MAXIMUM heat. I went there during winter and it was hotter than I could ever imagine. Night time is similar to what it's like during a hot summer day here. And even the rain is warm :-? As for activities, I highly suggest getting out of the central areas and going into the country. VERY beautiful. Which Island are you going to? We only stayed on... the main one with Apia (forgot the names of them now), but I've heard the other Island is a whole lot better and worth the trip

Which Animates did you go to? Kai or Melling? Just curious. Hutt Pet Centre is your best place in Wellington. Great prices, lots of variety. 3 Pretoria Street, Lower Hutt. Only a 20min Drive from town but well worth it over Animates. Only time I go to animates is just to browse at what they have but never tend to buy things from there anymore.
