  9. thx Ryan, thx Windsparrow. I mean in general guppy like low ph, dont need to b as low as mine, while molli like high ph. sometime ppl think guppi like high ph. Well, this is wot i learnt frm my experment. If u want raise some nice fat big tail guppy. First of all quality breeder is very important, second of all , food. More importantly. Water condition--low ph. Try it, use one guppi to try. and then tell us if it wrks:) i hav no problem wit my guppi tank water ph change from 4.5-6.5. However, they wont b happy if water ph over 7.5, this is just wot i learnt frm trying. Not a debate or something. Just sharing some my tips wit all. Plus, ph is a main factor to stop Aggizizis double red getting blow up n die too. Hope this help.
  10. So, wot about PH ,fellows? :dunno: my guppy tank ph is 4.6. Mollies r 8.8. :happy1: Also, it leads a Q. Y the Fancy guppies ppl bring back frm LFS sumtime wont even last 5mins, or nx day u find floaters or sinkers... Same as molli.... There r addapting issues among them. Fancier the softer!!!
  11. :happy2: this is only the display samples from my fish room :nilly:
  12. Da female in 2nd pic is holding. :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
  13. This is wot I found frm the other site: http://trophs.com/forums/lofiversion/in ... /t240.html "........I have this theory going (and it is only a theory ) that bloat results from a disruption of normal intestinal motili (motion) resulting in the disruption of healthy normal intestinal flora. The purpose of intestinal motility is to produce a constant peristalsis which keeps the intestinal flora in check, clearing it out and preventing overgrowth of nasty/bad bacteria/parasites/protozoa. The things that i believe slow intestinal motility(IM) (not in any order of importance) are: - stress/aggression causing increase in fight/flight response (increase in sympathetic nervous system activity) --> decreased intestinal motility. - any poorly digested proteins/fats in foods we feed them can slow IM. - introduction of new fish including wildcaughts or dither fish that harbour nasty parasites like spironucleus....these cause a build up of pathogens that aren't cleared by IM and eventually cause slowing of IM and intestinal mucosal breakdown --> spread to blood stream --> systemic infection or dropsy. - hormones released as a stress response or during holding of eggs which may reduce IM. - genetic defect in the intestinal peristalsis making it more sluggish than usual. - fasting for long periods during shipping or in holding females can potentially result in slowing of intestinal motility. -actual mechanical obstruction of the intestines - bowel obstruction. Obviously anything that reduces the fish's immune system can reduce the intestinal and systemic defense systems allowing infection to spread to the blood stream. So the aim of preventing bloat is to try to maintain intestinal health, the tropheus' natural defence against bloat.. I know there are a lot of other factors that can cause bloat such as poor water conditions with unstable pH, high nitrates/nitrites and ammonia.....but we can hopefully control these factors a lot better and i am sure u have covered this with your diligent maintenance regimes. I agree with Matt that u should stop giving treats of mysis shrimp....with NLS, they are getting all the nutrients they need and therefore don't need any "treats". How much do you actually feed your fish with NLS....we were told by RD that one teaspoon contains 1600 pellets...so it is very easy to overfeed your fish. I feed my 18 fish 3 pinches (around 120 pellets per pinch) twice daily. Also a fasting day is not recommended since this will risk slowing the intestinal motility....that is why tropheus feed all day, not only to meet nutritional requirements but to maintain healthy bowel movements and therefore bowel flora. However, I acknowledge that fish in preparation from shipping go without food for 24-72 hours to try to minimise waste production but is this part of the trigger for bloat in shipped fish? I hope this all makes sense! And please don't give up on keeping tropheus.."
  14. yeap, it is really sad about what happened down there, i can imaging.... thats fantastic, :bounce: well, will meet you when u r up here, and all the best mate. i am just too busy to do all sort of breeding a.t.m. hardly have time come to our forum. anyway, c you shortly. good luck to all our fish lovers down south.... all the best to them all. Regards David
  15. thx Ryan, yeap, i just heard that today, just see if she still wants any, she helped me before, it is the time that i can do something. how are yours going? man, gonna be a big time to move up. all the best mate. will see you in person soon i think. :bounce:
  16. Hey Jen, if you see this, please PM me, i heard what happened to your shellies, i want to help, and i think i can
  17. try to scoop the nest with eggs carefully together(better use a cup), put them into a breeding tank(a corner), and then move the male into the tank as well, but you have to move them a.s.a.p before other fish get the eggs, and before they hatch, as long as they hatch, you have to wait for next spawn.
  18. mine bred today, in a bamboo tube, around 80-100 eggs, moved the mum and eggs into a breeding tank, but a hr later when i went back to check, the mum was eating eggs, i moved the mum out, she had a big belly again(from eating eggs), saved around 30 eggs, fingers x. so, learnt, do not interupt the mum, otherwise she will eat eggs.
