  1. Heyas Just had a thought. Eventually once my rock which is cooking is ready to go, i'll have a fair bit of rock in the tank, some almost to the top of the waterline. Just occured to me that a water change will expose some of that rock to the air and kill off any coralline (when it finally develops!) Obviously wouldn't have corals that high. Is it just something that happens or do I need to rethink about the extra rock going in? Cheers
  2. Good, that way I can't be tempted to buy it when I go shopping again on Saturday! Looked sooooo mint tho Pic pls
  3. Don't throw it away! I'll take some off ya!
  4. Is that the one John had in 1 of his tanks? The one with purple tips?
  5. Not sure I'm liking that idea, and could someone goto jail for thieving something thats alive? Wouldn't it be classed as kidnapping? (Coralnapping.... Sleeping Coral.... I was just looking after it officer I promise!)
  6. Let me know how it gets on aswel, if you are successful with it, then maybe I should consider it onces my tank is sorted
  7. Lol yep, thats the one I've got an idea, I'll distract the sales people, and you thief it out of their tank. Cut it in half and we'll be away laughing.... or away to jail
  8. I want that anemone, but I don't think i've got enough lighting, and tank is a fair way off being "mature"
  9. I see John had an RSM setup as you walk in the door. Any ideas what he's got planned for it? Had LR and Water in it
  10. I quite like bubble corals, but I haven't been able to find one in CHC yet Redwood Aq have a really really stunning looking one, but its not for sale I also like torches/octopus/hammer/frogspawn coral. Hoping to buy a couple more from John this coming weekend
  11. Hidden, catch a glimpse of their antennae every now and again. The clowns had a big scrap, obviously sorting out who was going to be dominant. Seems to be sorted now. Both seem interested in my octopus coral and have both eaten. All looking good
  12. Damn new tank. I could've taken the majority of those fish today if I knew my tank would've kept up haha.
  13. Likewise.... that and my partner tells me i'm not allowed any "" looking corals :-?
  14. Left them in the tank (keep in mind I've only got 5 of them, and they're all relatively new so none have spread to big pieces of rock) and all are happy this morning by the looks of things. Even Mr Starki who went into hiding after moving everything came out to say Hi and his body language said "gonna feed me?"
  15. It is major rearrangement, I plan on syphoning underneith the rocks so they basically will have to come out of the tank for 10 mins The corals I will leave in the tank
  16. With the corals in my tank while I move rocks? Obviously it'll stir up a bit of crap. Will the corals be alright in the tank or should I take them out and put them in some buckets (with tankwater) and return them to the tank once the rocks have been moved? Dont wanna stress them anymore than required Cheers
  17. Good point, it is true that for industry growth to happen, stock must be easily accessed for customers. In saying that, it may be best that its not that easy to start a tank and have dozens more people "attempt" to have a reef setup. The way the industy is now, it makes people who are really keen on the idea really look into whats required, and how they are going to achieve what they want, rather than going and buying a tank, cheap gear, and a few expensive fish/corals which will enevidably die due to lack of research/care on the new owners behalf. I'm thoroughly enjoying learning this whole new side of fishkeeping, and all the money & time (TIIIIMEEE!!!) i've spent is somewhat rewarded when someone comes over and goes "OMG WOW!!!!" which only rarely happened with my freshwater tanks due to them being so common, i.e it was just another fish tank. :bounce:
  18. To be honest, you have to wonder how some of those PC companies do make money! But yeah, would be a bit different if there were 5000 little fish stores running out of the back of someones garage like their are PC shops.
  19. It goes something along the lines of "I want the best graphics card on the market at the moment" "Ok thats the Geforce XXXXX, $900" "Oh, nah I was thinking something along the lines of $150 - $200" Which in todays market is VERY average But yeah, gives an idea of what its like, and thats even wholesale prices!
  20. Interesting you say that reef, its exactly the same in the IT industry where I work, people want the best thing they can get, but dont want to pay for what its worth. I can fully understand why there aren't many marine resellers if its the same case (although in a much smaller scale which would make it even more difficult) If that all makes sense? I dont see the point in whinging about prices. In an industry so small at the moment, it only takes a few people as you say reef, to undermine the stores and ruin it for others. Its possibly why we've seen a drawback of stores that no longer have marines? (I know of 2 who are heading out of it now) I dont normally like getting into these kind of debates because people always tend to take it the wrong way, but I'm all for supporting the LFS's
  21. I dont think Critter Kingdom have pulled the plug because they're still getting new stock in (on Ferry Rd anyways)
  22. I know Redwood has a shipment from Fiji thats in QT at the mo. Should be out in a week or 2 but aparently its mostly SPS so no good for me Stanmore Rd I've seen some interesting ones in the past (before I could buy them) but nothing special recently. Ferry Rd looks like they're shutting up the marine shop there? Last time I was there I saw a rather sad looking large batfish with "make an offer" on it. Rest of the tanks were empty and that big blue unit that looked real good was sitting outside the door
  23. I'm only aware of 3 of them, 2 of which don't really have much of a variety (that ive ever seen anyways) One in redwood, one in ilam and one on stanmore rd Am I missing one that stocks marine?
