  1. We are staying here permanently, yes, you are right, ryanjury, we were treated like as if we owe them money!! Found a cheap place yesterday on K'Rd called Kiwihealth(?), they charge $40 for first visits and it costs $15 afterwards..lol...but the doctor was no good, she took 10 mins to tell me that she didn't know what's wrong..lol...but my ear hurts like hell...so she told me to take some panodol..seems to be the pill for everything...lol.... oh, and I was charged full price for the Prescription...ummmm...
  2. We are still enrolled with that GP in Rotorua and to get that transferred, we were told it would take 3-6 months...lol..and we don't qualify for the community service card as our combined income is higher than the threshold of appox. $34k, but living in the city apartment it costs like $350/week+power and etc...if it's charged and subsidised by area, why not allocate a different threshold by area too?... ....
  3. Hi guys, I just moved from Rotorua to Auckland Central and am wanting to change my GP to one that's close to my apartment, I visited a couple of places yesterday and found that they charge a lot more than what I was charged in Rotorua. It costs $23 to see my doctor in Rotorua and some others are even cheaper and most prescription meds are $3, the GPs I visited on Queen St charge $50 per visit if I transfer my enrolment here which would take 3 - 6 months and until then they have to charge me $70...is it normal? I did a search on MOH's website and the national average is $25. Any ideas?
  4. 新年快乐! This is "Happy New Year" in Mandarin guys!
  5. It costs $300/wk excl water...maybe I need a monthly bus pass, maybe $180/mth?
  6. Thanks for that guys, it's a really neat house though, I think I wouldn't mind spend up to half an hour to get to town, it's safety I'm most worried, i.e burglars/robbery/youths etc.
  7. Hey guys, I'm moving from Rotorua to Auckland so looking for a 1/2 bedroomhouse/flat, do you know if Te Atatu South is a good safe area? How far is this away from CBD? it's this one I'm interested in: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing ... =138740716 Any help is appreciated!!! Thanks
  8. People maybe more inclined to help if you say "please"
  9. I sit in front a box opening box-makers' boxes and try to work out how much they owe IRD with a bunch of people who can't think outside the box and when I finish I put everything back in the box and get a new box to work on.....the most depressing job
  10. Someone must have polished that shell?!!
  11. Spliting shell Box turtle - one of the few species that's able to completely tuck into its shell The bottom shell can split into two which is attractive to snakes, the turtle then closes it which traps and kills the snake and eats it. How clever!~
  12. It weighs 35kg, local village elders reckon its around 500 years old. Caught in Southern China with its neck stuck with fishing net, and bought by a fishery officer for 200 yuan (NZ$40) who promised to release it on the chinese Mid-Autumn day at a local dam.. I wonder what he/she eats?
  13. Swiss Zoo- Celebrating their 10th birthday!!

  15. I got it off an asian fun forum, don't know if it has photoshop done to it...
  16. Have you seen any reptiles like this? I reckon if you get four and a mouse and throw the pack down the drain, we'll have some TMNT in a few years fighting crime....lol...
  17. Hi guys, would you have a look at this? I noticed this last week and don't know what happened to it, it's a 200w jagar heater I bought a few weeks back from PetPlanet....the greenish thing is sandy like and there's no crack or moist on either inside or outside of heater glass...it seems to be functioning ok....it normally stays fully immersed horizontally and I only put it this way to take a photo of it. Any ideas? Cheers :bounce: http://i9.tinypic.com/4v5my6p.jpg http://i17.tinypic.com/52onfwz.jpg http://i12.tinypic.com/66kique.jpg http://i11.tinypic.com/62s48le.jpg IMG Tags removed. 18. should be ok if they grow from babies, turtles can be quite aggressive with any fish you have in the tank if you don't feed them enough to keep them full and occupied... ...I chucked in 23 convicts 2 months back and only have less than 10 left and a couple had been injured severely... don't think plecos would 'cos convicts are like one of the most hardy and fast fish... plus they only keep turtle babies less than 2 months old at the rotorua pet shop and that's probably why it appears ok...
  19. stinge_nz, please upload your picture again, the last one didn't come out right...it may because of deficiency in calcium or not enough drying and toughening their shell or maybe normal they are just growing shells. young turtles are probably referring to turtles less than 3 years old...before they become adult and able to mate...
  20. Please don't get all sensitive about the whole thing...I apologise if my reply seemed unfriendly...this forum is probably the best aqua forum in NZ, everyone is really helpful here!! but if you take a little time to read through what's already there you'll find answers to a lot of your questions... plus it'll be easier and less messy for the moderators to manage.... http://www.fnzas.org.nz/fishroom/for-th ... 22723.html
  21. Sorry I didn't mean to be mean at all, It's just that I usually do a little search myself before I ask questions (after watching that post inspiration video in fun section ) here's what wiki says about snakenecks: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Common_snakeneck_turtle Red eared turtles: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_eared_slider :bounce:
  22. I'd imagine roaches are bloody hard to kill and get rid of! i once trapped a few roaches in a plastic container upside down, they lived weeks without food and started eating one another ... also trapped a female with egg pod in a sticky cockroach house, the egg hatched with at least 20 little ones a few days later!! they are probably the most hardy creature on earth, I heard rumours they can live 3 months without food or water and not affacted by radiation...so it's probably the only creature that would survive a nuclear war!
  23. then try some ants sand as Ian suggested around their nest....or simply use insect spray to cut off the route they use to get to the tank and draw a circle around their nest and don't worry about wasting the spray!!!
