They are assembled. to fit the E40 bulb holder & wires there is 2 more bits of aluminium to figure out Also if you want to buy some material & DIY be prepared to spend a while polishing?

Yep add a halide if you can plenty of bargains on trade me at the mo. weird the comment on squid as its just about pure protein and most things love it, feed just a fingernail size piece it will eat what it needs & discard the rest.
