The only fish i would ever name would be a clown fish called nemo... lol I want to start up a marine tank sometime this year and thats one of the fishes i want to have.
I don't call them anything, when people ask what "that" fish is i say, "oh thats a cardinal tetra" etc etc, like when you talk about cars, its not like it has a name as such, its just what it is.
Things that might help:
-Mature tank
-Good diet
-clean fresh water/ weekly water change
-Suitable water chemistry
-Suitable tank mates
-Consistant temperature (26-28 degrees, don't let it get too high or to low)
Most of the stuff i have read is about having a mature tank for rams
