  1. I think they are called red fin or Fire fin Not 100% sure Just a note we are not keen to ship these So offers also mean you need to pickup
  2. Here are the original pictures of nine posted a while ago. I had no luck with breeding these back then. Pictures are of mature female fish. Male is more impressive Tried setting up a tank at that time for this purpose but breeding just did not happen. So gave to a friend who has heaps of experience with breeding cichlids and he has been successful. The arrangement was that we share the babies if they do breed. So they have and there is now a possibility we will sell a few. 6 for a start Maybe pm me with offers if interested and will answer questions as well. cheers
  3. Here is my rant Simian I for one am willing to pay for good quality fish. And what I pay good money for should be advertized correctly I can understand how this mistaken identity can take place when a private sale takes place as happened with Ant n. Especially when the shop sold these to him as Synodontis Multipunctatus and this obviously is not what they are. Identifying the fish correctly this is up to the shops it’s there responsibility to make sure all fish sold to customers are sold as what they are. If a fish is a cross put a note on the tank saying so. If it can’t be identified put type unknown. And then as customers yes it is also our choice to buy these. I was one person who was willing to pay what Ant n wanted for these Synodotis Multipunctatus But only if they were the real true ones. So I checked them out before parting with any cash. I say if possible buy from reputable breeders and do study up on the fish you wish to buy.
  4. Stupid Me I thought you meant Synodontis multipunctatus
  5. I have 2 left out of the original 4 1 quite a bit larger than the other so probably 1male and 1female. Not to many around but yes people do have them Seems most fish on the ok list from Lake tanganyika are hard to get. BRING IN MORE TANGS PEOPLE WANT THEM Sorry for screaming Good luck with your hunt
  6. Well ‘’that is a superb tank adodge. Everything in there looks great.
  7. Hi can anyone help with picking 2 fish up for me and getting them up to Auckland for me please? Will cover costs. I have organized something Please remove this post as help is not required anymore Cheers
  8. Will add you to the list should I be lucky enough to get Fry from them Aquatopia Don't give up looking for these neat fish I bought 2 of mine from a local shop and the others I got from a person on this site Paid good money for them though Let your local shop know you are keen to purchase some but the way things are with importing and especially with regards to these more exotic fish luck seems to be not on us fish fancier’s side. Well worth it should you find some Good luck
  9. Mine would have to be The most complete colour lexicon of Cichlids With every known cichlid illustrated in colour By Dr. Herbert R . Axelrod I have a sighed copy bought quite a few years ago It's around 4 inches thick Always looking and drooling over some of the fish which we can't get here Would recommend this book to anyone interested in Cichlids probably thicker now with more pictures added should you still be able to buy it.
  10. Hi to all of you Mine are the orange variety All in my 6foot tank they chase each other around but not overly aggressive. I bought the 5 as one lot seems I might have been lucky with these as probably got 1 male rest are female I also have a male electric yellow in this tank and quite hard case the lelupi and electric yellow male do the mouth-to-mouth thing lelupi wins hands doun He's the one with the largest but never have i seen any of them having a good go at
  11. Thought i would share this picture of my male Neolamprologus leleupi with you Took me quite some time to get a good shot as they seem to be forever on the move I have a group of 5 fish I think this is the only male as he is twice the size of the other three but not 100% sure just have to wait and see if they start to have little Leleupi He is around 120mm long
  12. Thanks Freakyfish The male is even better looking but very shy Are Alto's easy to get in Australia? They are very hard to find over here not many come in at all I have just been very lucky to find the 5 I have We need more of these neat fish over here so I hope all goes ok with this pair and they have a lot of fry. Able then to offer others the opportunity to own them All the best
  13. Good answer alanmin4304 I’m colour blind and back in my primary school days they had a way of teaching maths by using little colored blocks of wood. They thought well this kid has a real learning problem You see colour blindness was not recognized as a legitimate disorder back then Times have changed thank god How many people out there think if your colour blind well you must only see things in black and white Not true just have difficulty with identifying certain colors Just a miss wire in the brain but you learn to get around it And now I work with electronics It just means in my case working a bit harder to get around this disorder and relying on other peoples understand and help when I need it. Cheers
  14. Thanks my4age I hope they do breed All up I have 5 Altos but 2 are a different colour a lot lighter in body colour I think out of the five I have 4 males and there seems to be the one female’ but who knows Anyway these 2 in the300ltr tank seem to have paired off
  15. Borrowed the camera from work Just 2 pictures of my Altolamprologus compressiceps female The male was camera shy so only got shots of her I think they are red fin or sometimes called fire fin I’m trying to get this pair to breed so they are on their own in a 300ltr tank Quite happy with each other so fingers and fins crossed the do the deed Anyway hope pictures of her turn out ok Cheers
