so far i've got gravel from quarry blacky grey and heap of big river rocks , and blue lights looks quite effective will post pics up SOON couple of questions thou : had tank running for 3 years with africans and now it empty the filter should be all good to add heap fish or do i have to reintrduce them slowly ? and the river rocks have a lot quartz in them will this affect ph water in any harmful way ? cheers and thanks i know silly questions and google is not very helpful to many conflicting answers .

how long do you have to wait until its safe to take heater out of water after you have turned it off ?

building a tank its 300l or so want to do a sand or fine substrate but in cool colours like black or dark browns greens any idea where can get this from and be ok for fire eels and other types of eels

yeah when was whitebaiting caught half dozen little flounder size of 2 dollar coin next time im out i get ya some them snails in low tide you can get other snails lot bigger size of small apple snail

got driftwood 1 10cm eel and about 20 of them native snails from lake wairarapa brackish ones but seem to do well in fresh want to add plants thou any ideas at all :bounce:

ive got demasoni yellows peacocks and julies im feeding them peas,spirilina flake and sticks should i feed em bloodworms or protein based foods every so often etc

i have 250L TANK with an fluval 304 fish in tank 6 yellows 6 ob peacocks 6 julies 6 maleri red peacocks 8 demasoni 1 bristlenose all fish are small 3-4cm i do know they get big but when they do i will swap em out for small ones again but my question is how often should i be doing an water change and how much im doing weekly at about an 3rd of the tank just wondering if im under doing or overdoing etc thanks

new to canister filters got an fluval 305 and an 2nd hand 204 does media expire need changing etc 204 came with bottom case full of gravel stuff next with noodle things and top with filter wool and 305 with carbon noodles and all factory my questions are: does the media need changing at all? how often do clean them out weekly monthly not at all ? and how do clean etc scrub out or just tip dirty water out etc? and any prefrences on set up filter wool seems useless clogs up quick ? many thanks

shit loads at lake wairarapa not to far to go either heaps of native snails to big and small

i happened last night went out had heap in there funny as feed frozen blood worms and lil cray eating bloodworm same size as itself

had an 220l tank set up for apx 2 1/2 years went out feed my 5 crawlys about 8cm plus each to notice had about 30-40 tiny tiny crays swimming around anyone else had same thing happen do take them out let them go dont want them to get eaten

cold as heck the hill open just came over in truck myself not looking at any road closures

not an syno but i use pictus cats in mbuna tank

tank 230L its got good filteration too good i have 10 demasoni 6 yellows 2 pictus cats 1 gba want to add something else pref with something red any ideas?

i do then i brought an filter that clips on end of hose does same job

i suck water out with hose then fill back with hose have an filter that goes on end of hose when fill it back up and i dont have gravel have coral sand too forgot to say sweet might go buy some more fish :bounce:
