  1. thanks Caryl I would surpose it would speed up the set up time as well, with not having to wait for the glue to dry. Keep up the excellent work.
  2. i have a coral beauty, beautiful and cleans up my tank. They do not grow too big, they are a pigmy angel.
  3. thanks for this, its nice to have a healthy reason to keep the bottle of vodka around the house.
  4. for us that are new, Ive seen vodka being used, what is it for and what is the best way to introduce it etc....
  5. I think you are lucky to have joined this forum, as you can see there is alot of support out there, both in advice and bits and pieces you can buy/swop/get off people. Things maybe alittle bit different here than the UK. I am fairly new to fish/marine and have enjoyed a community that provides an excellent support. We have a few shops up here in Auckland, but meeting and seeing how others go about it has been my best point of learning. Seems what ever problem you have, someone has had it before and is happy to share on how they have dealt with it. Best wishes on the road to building your new reef. MJ
  6. what a nice simple answer, thats for that.. mj
  7. what type of glue is best for the plumbing? One that wont be toxic or crack over time? MJ
  8. if you are looking at marine, I think the first question you should ask is what is my initial budget, and what will be my monthly budget. Being new to marine, it is excellent, but a big hobbie budget is what is needed. It would be sorry to see you start and then have to give it away due to cost. mj
  9. what do bristle worm look like? Ive got somethign small crawlng around the glass at the back of the tank, white, like dust mite with bristles out the side.

    sea water

when using fresh sea water, is there anything I should do to it, or is it ok to tip straight into the tank? Assuming it is crystal clear at time of collection.
  11. has anyone been diving up there... how accessable is it?
  12. I am starting to think like most people who start out that I need a bigger setup, but I am getting a little bit swamped with all of the alternative and types of solutions for a larger tank. Cost is a limiting factor. But thanks for your response, very simple but I am sure effective.
  13. I have a 120l tank, but with the cold spell and my wife wanting a fire on, the tank temp is getting up to 28 degrees and climbing. I have the start of a mini reef. My question is, how do you keep it cool.

    Hi there, Im new.

until now I have had no interest in fish at all, nothing wrong with them, but tended to be interested in other kinds of pets, but with marine, with all of the balances and variables it is like one giant rubics cube, never ending possibilties of variables and it has the whole family interested, even the wife. I guess they are quiet, no mess, no smell. She does like a tidy house.
  16. Nice to have a sorce of information on fish. I am very new to the world of fish. I have a marine tank that I am starting out on. I would appreciate any inside info etc to make life easier. I intend it to be a mini reef style of tank.
