Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that an Endler? it looks like an Endler x Guppy hybrid... sorry been reading up about them recently and was wondering if any LFS would stock Endlers.
There are often endlers in the shops. Try having a look in the coldwater guppies.
As for the venezualens, they were being sold as venezualens, not endlers.

It has been ages since the lyretailed venezuelan guppies were in the LFS's. I was wondering if anyone still had any?

the fish in the pics are from american breeders.
we have the ability to breed nice fish here, just need dedication, a basic understanding of genetics, a goal, and patience

I dont think many fish shops are interested in selling them.
LFS want fish that sell quickly for fast turnaround. Barrie was the one behind the killi tank at Bird Barn from my understanding. They used to only have golden wonders every now and then. Maybe there needs to be more Barrie's out there pushing their LFS's to stock them and teach them how to look after them properly to keep them in tiptop condition.

Personally, double tails are my fav's. Photos are from Aquabid over the past few years. (I look at fish on there, not for what I want, but for ideas of what I want to breed towards)

judging by the dorsal base size being similar to the anal fin suggests dt genes?

I think doubletails where the split doesn't reach the peduncle would be lyretails?

went back into the shop this week and saw it still there, so it followed me home.
I only have one sterbai left as the rest died off :oops:
on the lookout for sterbais and more caudimaculatus

would prefer them to be groups of different types, not randoms grouped together.

I spotted one of these at the fish shop and was keen on it but they only had one. Almost brought it to add to my group of misfits (9 albinos, 3 peppered's and a sterbai) but thought it would be better in a group of there own. Does anyone on here keep/breed this variety?

This is the young male that will have the snip:
the main long fin is his gonopodium, but what is the thin corkscrew-like other partbehind his gonopodium? and the bit in front of it?
And his girlfriend to be:
They were going to be my first pair so that all the F1 fry were going to be lyretails.
Purplecatfish, do you think I should cross her to this guy?
and get 50/50 split of hi-fins and lyretails? I wanted to extend the lyretails and concentrate on improving the size and colour.

How about Galaxy Rasbora? they are miniature fish, pricey though. :-?
Frucatus rainbows and Threadfin rainbows can look nice when happy.

There are very nice guppies hidden in peoples tanks around nz. An indication of what you are looking for may help find what you're looking for.

What are the physical differences between male and female blue rams.
I have been looking at some at the lfs. Some have rounded edges on their dorsal and tail while others are more pointed and trailing. Is it that easy to sex?

the gonopodium is a fin, not an organ. Not literally cutting his winkie.
Been doing a bit of research on it, but still unsure. Got a clean scalpel etc. Maybe give him a snip, then put him in meth blue by himself for a while.
